Just a small rant:

I AM SICK AND TIRED OF WHITE SHIRTS THAT YOU CAN SEE THROUGH TO THE THE COLOR OF YOUR SKIN. :rage:

Thank you. That is all.

yup. it's either a sign of super-quality ephemerally soft linen, or just a cheap
shirt without enough thread count to block all from viewing our lack of 21yr
old body on 52yr old man...I like Brooks Brothers shirts-can't see through 'em,
last forever, and come in several different grades-tough oxfords to super
smooth pima cottons. Worth all the money for store-bought goods. IMHO...

I love a simple solution! :cheers1:

I dig the simple solution but it kind of misses the point.

I want quality shirts that I dont have to compensate for with another piece of clothing.

Besides, unless you wear a long sleeve T you still have the same problem.

So I am cheap, and so are the shirt makers

I generally buy long sleeve dress shirts at ROSS! ha!!

They are usually $15 or LESS. Van Husen, Arrow, Pierre Cardan...name brands.

Yes, they are thin. But I do not "launder" them. They are worn, washed, ironed at home, and worn ..when they look shabby...trash, or they become "yard shirts". ( I prefer long sleeve light colored shirts, gives me great sun protection in the yard).

But your point is well taken. Shirts, unless the Oxford...are THIN. SEE THRU. In the cheap ones I buy.. I won't fork over $85 for a Nordstroms.

Besides, the cuffs and collars are all you see anyway in my business suit.

When Mr.Colban (Charvet) was fitting me for my shirts, he asked if I usually wore an undershirt and when I told him that I did, he gave me a wink as to affirm my choice. That's good enough for me:)

Guy, Guys...

I'm with you on the undershirt! I too sing the praises of the white cotton gem.

When I was young (in the 80s) I was given a shirt that had to be from the 1940s or 50s. This shirt was the best shirt I have ever owned. It had the most beautiful white cloth that you could not see your skin through. Every shirt I've owned since has been a pale comparison.

Thats all I'm sayin.

hhhmmm

Maybe they had shirts for each season in the day. Makes sense to me.

Could be the one I had when young was for the cooler season.

hey BigSleep I quit wearing undershirts when I came to California decades ago. Ya don't need them- it's too warm. But as the Baron illustrates, it's some of the white shirts that are opaque not other colors.[huh]
