I just received this from Langlitz confirming Horse sample.

I communicated with Langlitz and the Japanese tannery is very secretive about the tanning method/type used and will not divulge much information.

But judge for your self.

Himel oil-tanned Shinki vs Langlitz horse.

Thank you for the comparison. The grain and dye look very similar. Does the scratch show a yellowish brown or blueish grey? I can't really tell from the scratch.

I had to scratch aggressively (which is a great indication to me of the robustness) to reveal a bluish hue.

Wonderfully the black dye is rather deep.

LOL. I thought that very thing!!!
Can you imagine?!?!

Do it! Do it! Lol! Jokes aside reminds of story... A riding buddy that picked up a "tear proof"waxed cotton kevlar blend vest that was meant for off the bike looks and on the bike protection. Long story short to test it he allowed another buddy to try and cut it in an inconspicuousl spot. I tried to tell him its a bad idea but next thing you know his new vest had a slit in it.

Why am I doubting that you tried to stop this insanity lol. I would have brought out the popcorn.

You'll have to drive to Portland OR to try a Langlitz in person but it seems you're not far. You can check out the Dehen shop also.
Hi Colin, I have almost decided to order the Langlitz padded pocket columbia. But the only concern I had is the fit. Did you get the perfect fit jacket by sending the body measurements or the jacket's measurements? Seems some people had their first langlitz jacket fail on the fit. I am 500 Km away from Langlitz. Gas is not cheap for me.

I measured multiple times with help. I also considered the "fit" I was looking for. I went with snug.
The thickness of leather has an influence on the fit too. But with the fit guarantee you cannot go very wrong.

probably even when both jacket is black but one is warmer tone and can be paired with brown leather or worn with khaki pants easier than the other with colder tone, probably once worn it might shown green bluish reflection, and looks better paired with black boots and jeans

What does the blueish grey vs the brown-yellow suggest to you???
Normally, undyed chrome tanned is blueish grey and undyed veg tanned is yellowish brown. Then there are other factors like combination tan (e.g. the colour of natural CXL) and whether leather dyed with one colour then a different coloured top coat applied.
Looks like the Langlitz HH is chrome tanned.
