Shearer evacuated

Shearer returned to San Diego from her wknd in NYC only to be evacuated this morning. Her family has packed up & is safe with relatives.

I just talked to my little sister in San Diego, she is staying indoors (she has really bad asthma), and her campus is closed down.

Someone out there needs to do a rain dance!

Poor thing, she got to JFK and wasnt sure if her flight would get out. We were so busy over the wknd, we hadnt heard about SanDiego's status.
Then she wasnt sure if she could get home from the airport as so many highways were closed.
Then she woke up to find out they had to pack whatever was important & evacuate.
She seemed more distressed that some folks couldnt get all their horses out.

Thanks a lot you guys! I'm safe in Orange County right now, but the smoke is starting to blow in.

I think as far as San Diego Co. evacuations are concerned, the officials are playing 'better safe than sorry' after the Cedar fires a few years ago. Over 500,000 evacuated the last time I heard.

I packed up all my irreplaceable vintage clothes, purses, pictures, electronics and other documents and headed out about 800 this morning. I got a whopping 4 hours sleep after getting back from the airport last night :eusa_doh: It was a little bit of a surreal sight with people driving around wearing masks, refugees in RVs, trucks towing boats, etc.

The smoke is here...depending on where you live, its either bad..or not as bad.

and there are a fair few fires in LA county too....just not -quite- near the extent as in SD.

I got stir crazy from being inside all day and went for a drive this afternoon to take some pictures. It's been raining ash since late morning and very smoky where I'm at. For lack of anything better to do, I've been documenting with a camera.

Gosh, best wishes from here in the UK, my Aunt Patsy lives in Santa Barbara and we were quite worried for her, but she is being very British as usual and has retreated indoors with a Gin.
Shearer, hope the heavens open soon and a good downpour follows.
