Shawl collar cardigan--- Need info about 100% acrylic.

Hi Folks

I have an opportunity to purchase a decent looking shawl collared cardigan however my concern is that the cardigan is made of 100% acrylic... I have no first hand experience with acrylic clothing therefore I am asking for opinions on the quality of the material both pros and cons and also what time frame were US companies using 100% acrylic?

The cardigan is labeled Gimbel's and made in the USA. I can't quit recall when Gimbel's when out of business( I will research that subject).

So, to Acrylic or not to a Acrylic?

I stay away from 100% acrylic. Had a sweater made from it some years back and it hung like a limp noodle. I hated the feel of it.

Many years ago I had one sweater that really deserved it's name. I did sweat a lot when wearing it. It's no myth. It also looked worse after every wash. I would advice against acrylics. Maybe there are blends that work (?) but I would avoid 100%acrylics.
