Yep, did cut myself eight or ten times, but only one real gash. The cutting edge of a shavette for DE blades is too short, next time I'll get me a real straight.

After some time of usage my first review of the Merkur safety razor: I really had no problem with the switch from the Fusion, no big cuts until now (in 2-3 weeks of use). The first three or four times the shaves weren't as smooth, but now they are better then I could ever have achieved with the modern razor. After doing three passes (first with he growth, then one against the growth and one touch up) my face is so smooth that I almost really need to shave every second day - but I stil prefer to do it every morning, just for the ritual of it :cool2:

My procedure:
Shower & hot water rinse
Proraso pre-shaving cream
Proraso shaving soap in the bowl
Real badger brush
Merkur 34c with Personna blades
Three passes
Hot, then cold water rinse
Alum block
Proraso aftershave balm

Jakob, as you know them both: how would you compare the Mitchel's Wool Fat to the Proraso cream? I'm curious as I'm oggling with it too.

Amazing shave. The lowly injector has become the razor most likely to deliver a BBS shave for me. I don't enjoy using it like I do the Gillette DE razors, but it shaves like a house afire.
