Well Michael, I'll expound for you.
You can save a wine cork from your next bottle, and run just the very edge of the blade through the cork to straighten the edge and remove any micro burrs.
You can also "strop" a DE blade edge against the heel of your hand to help straighten the fine cutting edge as well. Mind you, do not CUT INTO your hand with the blade, just drag the blade from the center out against the heel of your hand upwards, a few times, quickly and in succession, turn the blade over and do the other side. Then , rotate the blade and repeat on the opposite sides edges.

A Youtube vid from a fellow I know from Badger & Blade may describe it better:

Got a Brit. HD Rocket in the mail today, I god it very cheap at an on-line auction site.

Here is the sellers pic.:

Here it is after cleaning:

It cleaned up very nicely. Only fault is that the head is loose, changing the blade takes some care, but once the TTO is tightened again there are no problems.

Thanks I'll try that, It seems like the second shave with a blade is better than the first.I thought maybe it was my imagination, maybe they need to be stropped first.

I haven't really given in to AD (yet) so I use the same everyday, so not much to report, but it's interesting to see what you others use!

Well Jakob, don't despair!
I have to agree with djupis to some extent.
I use the same razor every day, blade selection changes occasionally, and I have a 4 brush rotation.
My expression comes with the software really, cream, ASB, and cologne are the only real variables...

Last night -

Gillette NEW
US Personna
VDH Deluxe - with a few drops of Old Spice cologne
Tweezerman brush

Three passes, a fine shave save for a cut under the nose...I have to be careful with open comb razors, it seems.

Finished with a Witch Hazel splash, generic Old Spice AS and a touch of the Clubman styptic. First cut in quite awhile.

The morning should bring three new razors my way, and if I have the photo pegged they are a Red Tip, Senator and a Slim.

Very clean and soapy - with a note of teal. Like a classic hand soap.

The scent is very discreet and pleasant - and it doesn't linger after rinsing.
