Still can't get quite as smooth a shave with the Nomad as Mama Bear's soap. Rats, but still a nice shave, now for the morning coffee.

A couple of touches with the styptic pencil
Tried the Dorco 300 blades I sent for, I'd heard they were very mild and forgiving. They certainly were, as I made my WTG pass with no nicks or irratation at all. Relathered for the XTG pass, and couldn't resist dailing up the Slim from "4" to "7" and this went remarkably smooth. Rinsed for the final pass, and decided to just go with the oil and buff a few spots, as the shave was BBS everywhere but some small spots on neck and chin.
You know what I did next. If "7" was good, could "8" or "9" be better? I was very close to what I'd call the Perfect Shave, and was going to get it all as smooth as glass. Buffed under the chin, no irratation at all, so I was surprised when the blood started. :eusa_doh:
I figured my angle was wrong and moved down to my neck. What had been a perfectly fine shave was now bleeding in two spots. I called it quits.
The Dorco blades may have kicked the US made Personnas out of my routine. I'll miss the great packaging and the built in blade bank, and may hold on two my two remaining packs as travel items.
TopGumpy: Thanks, I kind of dig it aswell. Review here

I had actually planned to skip shaving today and just sit with my feet up, a hot cup of coffee and check out forums and watch TV. But, circumstances did that I had to get out of the house - and look presentable, said circumstances must have taken up a little too much of my attention while shaving, because I ended up slicing my upper lip really bad - definitly the worst cut I have experienced so far. I guess I will have to grow a mustache over the next few weeks to let it heal properly.

My shave today was part of the leisure of a day off
Prep: A few splashes of hot water
Gear: Slim Adjustable, left on "5"
Williams soap
Tweezerman brush
Dorco 300, third shave
Shave went great, WTG, XTG and ATG, no nicks and only the faintest hint of a weeper under the lower lip when I went ATG. No need for the styptic pencil after the cold water splash, and smooooooth! The Pinaud Bay Rum didn't deliver the fierce burn that I sometimes get...I kind of missed it. These Korean blades seem to agree with my mug!
Ahhh, I love my Sunday morning shaves.

Mitchell's Wool Fat - first try, I already love it! I have trouble understanding the complaints about this soap and hard water; I have quite hard water, but I managed to get this soap to produce generous amounts of foamy lather with ease

Derby Extra, first use (ever). So I guess the deal with the Derby's is something along; mild like a Merkur without the irritation and almost as close as a Gillette Swede without the nics. Nice!

Jakob, glad to hear the Derby's worked for you. How's the brush from the Blind Factory work?
