What are your top ten favorite names, male and/or female? List each name with the spelling or spellings you prefer. If you have ten favorites of each gender, make two lists.

Personally, I don't have a list of male names. So here is my top ten list of female names, in no particular order:

1) Sara / Sarah
2) Marie
3) Rebecca
4) Cari
5) Rose
6) Jane
7) Catherine
8) Victoria
9) Jessica
10) Susan

We want to name our children 'John Henry' and 'Rosa', after Rosa Parks/Luxemburg. I'd like my daughter to have a strong female role model, and John and Joan sounds a bit strange!

I really love quite Jewish sounding names too, I like Isaac, Moses etc. Very biblical, but the other half is not so keen. His surname is Steel, and I think with the story and all 'John-Henry Steel' is quite a cool name! John Henry was my great grandad's name too.

I think it has a lot to do with whom you've known with these names. If you have had bad experiences with a "John" (no pun intended), you might not favor the name. If you have had grrreat experiences with a "Trixie", you might be partial to that name.

1. Sarah
2. Mary
3. Alice
4. Iris
5. Carol
6. Angela
7. Maria
8. Jutah
9. Susan
10. and my favorite female name that no one in the U.S. dares name their daughter.....
Xochitl, pronounced, Zoe-chill. Rolls right out of my mouth. Easy to pronounce even when drunk.

I don't have ten male names.
1. Aldo
2. Ben or Benjamin
3. David
4. Vincent
5. Bruno

One of my first serious girlfriends as a teenager had the name of Xochitl. A marvelous and old name with a Mexican indian background(?) :) I was raised in El Sereno!!

:eusa_clap You made me giggle, LizzieMaine. I love all those old nicknames--looking through my great-grandfather's scrapbook from the twenties, in college, everyone had one. Carrot, Socky, Hap...I need to start calling my friends some of those, just to throw everyone off balance. :D
