Okay, so this is not technically my art... one of my friends did a quick sketch of me in a boring class. Here it is, as photographed by webcam:

photos of leather unit patches I made

Hello members, I don't have a scanner or digital camera to copy load photos, but if you go to this site you can view a few photos of some of the many Thousands of patches I've made over the years, enjoy !
Type in- leatherworker.net then when you have the main page click into the "Our Leather Gallery " section and you'll find them under Johnny Signor's leather unit patches.

I hope someday to figure out how to work a scanner/digital camera to load stuff, sorry members I'm a neanderthal with "Techno" toys"

Hey gang.
Here is a new one I did for the annual California Screamin' show at Gasoline Gallery in El Segundo California.
I'm particularly happy with this piece.
It is oil on canvas, 16 x 20.
I just finished it so it isnt in a frame yet.
In fact the paint is still wet.
Hope you dig it.

That's great! You should do a matching "Johnny" in a cool blue.

Goodness, thanks again, everyone! I hardly know what to say.
I forgot to include the reference in my first post...it's always interesting to compare the reference with the finished piece and here I think they're definitely easy to tell apart. Which I like. =P

Flute, I have to say I usually don’t take commissions but I am known to sometimes make exceptions, so you’re welcome to PM me if you want to talk about it.

I didn't actually mean to hae it done; at least not now. Your work is amazing, but I always have hated any pictures or portraits of myself; I always feel too self absorbed when there's any piece of artwork devoted to myself hanging up.

I occasionally recreate album covers and do other photomanipulations, as well as some illustration. Naturally, in a vintage style! :)

Here are a couple of Genesis (the band) themed recreations:

A photographic recreation of the mad hatter from Alice in wonderland (also used by Genesis in their album art):

Thanks Tim.
Yes they are wood plaques deeply engraved or carved out with a dremel...detailed with different bits then stained and finally polyed. That's it..!

Bamboo

HD,

Thanks for the compliments.

Yes, the fly rods are made from Bamboo. A species that grows is a very tiny region in China, refered to as "Tonkin" Bamboo.

There rods are Hexagonal in Geometry. Each section of the rod, IE: the butt section and the tip section [2 pc rod] have 6 tapered equallateral traingles which have been hand planed in those steel forms in the background in the photo.

The 6 strips that make a rod section are then glue bound under pressure; binding cord holds them tight; then heat treated, after which a lot more work goes into finishing the blanks. Tons of work but very rewarding.

I learned from a master maker, but before he agreed to teach me the basics and some... he asked me why I wanted to make rods.....

"I told him it was sort of a extension of my life; that I thought it to be really cool for something which I hand crafted to bare my name, and be functional long after I left this world".

A Spiritual individual he was. That statement I had made to him, he thought was unique; soon after the tutorial had begun. I was glad to get his nod of approval prior to his death.

RIP: George E. Maurer - Master Maker "Sweetwater Rods"
