I think that just the presence of moderators tends to keep out the jerks. It only takes one bad actor to get people to start leaving, then there goes the neighborhood. I appreciate the time and effort the bartenders (and MK) take to have such a delightful web site.

I recall when I got a phone call from MK to ask if I'd like to join the rest of them behind the bar... I was honored! We have fine bartenders here, a pack of swell ladies and gents who watch over this place... if anything gets out of line... we'll a Bartender is there to fix it up or kick it out! But, we couldn't enjoy this place without having so many good members as we do!

You guys make this place great too!

Actually, I am a gigantic smart-ass. I'm just more polite about it,sir. ;)

Yes, MK has put together (with the help of our bartenders) a truely unique sanctuary for those who still believe in courtesy, manners and style. The Lounge was my first experience with an online community. After I looked around here for a while I visited other "joints" (dives, really) and saw just how trashy they were. Thank you to everyone here for making it so easy to stick around! :eusa_clap

Conceptart.org...thats really what I was complaining about. Not that its all bad but when I posted some things in a section called The Lounge (equivlent to The Observation Bar) I was told I'm spending too much time on the computer, to stop spamming the boards and other weird put-downs. Mind you, this was only after three threads I posted over a three day period (1 a day) and I got all that bull. They talked to me like they know me! :rage: It seemed like a bunch of 20-somethings...they're the worst on boards it seems, or at least the ones that think "Oh, a 16 year-old? I'm obviously so superior to him. Anything he says means nothing and has no value". I'm not trying to generalize 20-somethings, by the way. Maybe there is just more maturity here? Class and manners defitantly play a factor. The worst I've experienced here was people getting a bit pushy (in my How to Pull Off a Look thread) but thats really the worst of it, and it wasn't even that bad. Hats off to you all! :fedora:

Even if we sometimes have our differences,...

It's the fact that we really do have so much in common with each other that makes this such a fun and informative forum.

A person's age never seems to enter into it here. I am completely oblivious to anyone's age. It's something I just don't think about when I'm here.

Thank god!

Could never have guessed your age, (or anyone else's for that matter) it's not really relevant. But it would be nice if there were more older people here, octogenerians and up, from the golden era that have first hand knowledge of the times.

Little brother, do not be troubled by the words of 20-something artistes. They above all their peers *think* they know everything, yet have the hubris to post a line like " Let some of the most imaginitive artists on the internet inspire you with their unique visions" on their cover page.

Indeed. Now tell me what word in that sentence is spelled wrong. ;)

Thank You...ALL

Great place and space...i miss alot because my head is so into hats.

I am working on expanding beyond the hat frontier though i wish not

my head to expand (size not Knoledge). Its a great novel to read the post

on all the forms.

The bartenders are exceptional and MK is of Solomon wisdom as a host.

I actually find it quite a helpful board. I've been posting alot of my drawings on there for over a year, met some real nice people. Its just that if I post in some places I end up getting SHAFTED.

What I would do (because I can be a stinker) is post them where the "High and Mighty" play... I'd just keep posting my art on there until they get the picture that you ain’t going to pander to them and their snobbery.

Nerts to them I say! If they give ya flack, let it roll off of your back!;)

I'm pretty new, but...

...I've found that the only topics that might cause rants or outburst are the threads discussing today's "issues", for example a thread on "Cell Phones"...;)

I'm glad that the interest in all things classic and classy isn't only the clothing angle, as there's so much more to enjoy about these things...

Thanks for the kind words. We have a great team that serves behind the bar and that makes the difference. There are times we get so much grief to keeping the peace that sometimes I wonder if it is worth it. It is no fun confronting trouble. Some people get really bent out of shape when we won't accept their application with a free e-mail address (even though it says in bold red letters that we don't). The next time I am feeling lousy about having to discipline, I will come read this thread.

Thank you. You guys are the best!

MK, you are much more fair and even-handed than most Forum owners. I've hung out on others that are so far politically one way or another that stating an honest (not inflammatory) opinion gets you banned. You and the folks here run a very pleasant place.

For those who can't even read the directions - well, they're just not suited by intellect or temperament to join, are they? [huh]

The Fedora Lounge is a unique and wonderful place

Just being able to communicate with so many people who have shared
interests, be that fedoras themselves, or flight jackets, Golden Era architecture, movies, and so on, is simply great. It never ceases to amaze me that there are folks in all corners of the USA, the UK, New Zealand, Denmark, and the Czech Republic who are interested in the same things that I enjoy.

And the knowledge to be gained here is unbelievable. Before I was directed to the Lounge by a buddy and started lurking here a year ago, I thought I was pretty well-informed about all things Golden Era-vintage. I soon learned that I was an ignoramus compared to some of the fine members here who openly share so much knowledge with everyone.

Everyone here is great. I love this place!

Hey Arrowcollar guy that's the reason I like it here. There are people here that share knowledge without talking down to you in that internet-wide smart-assed, know-it-all swaggering manner. I like it here cause there is no forum for the politically retarded who weave into every thread some rhetoric about their big time party or politician. There's no "deep" religious discussions unfolding here. In short, no one has an agenda to put forth and I like that. It's just period attire, collectables and historical stuff. There are plenty of places on the web for all that other crap. We don't need it here.;)
