Sewing a sweatband?

I just recieved a vintage stetson black homburg that some of y'all have seen in my other link. Hopefully I'll get some pics up with it on. When looking at the hat, it seemed like it was in excellent condition, but after a while I noticed that the sweatband stitches would started to come undone by putting on and taking of the homburg. Could I sew the hat band back on by hand, or would it be to much trouble or to risky that it might ruin the hat?

Thanks,

J.J.

My Stratoliner has a few stitches popped on the front of the sweatband. I've been thinking it might be worth a careful try at renewing them. After all, someone else stitched it originally - so why can't I?

I notice that I haven't gotten around to doing it, though....
