Seersucker shirts

When I was a real little kid I had seersucker outfits that I HATED. But now that I'm a big old guy I love seersucker. It's several years since I had a seersucker suit, and it's long gone now. I'd love to find one.

Don't get me wrong, I have a few seersucker suits. It is the shirts that I don't like.

Seersucker shirts are always created as sport shirts, made to be worn without a tie and often short-sleeved. A seersucker dress shirt would be an oddity, but I've never seen one of those.

JP, do you starch the hell out of shirts you wear when you're lying around on the beach? That's about the level of casualness I associate with seersucker shirts.

Actually I wear Hawaiian shirts for that and they are starched, yes. The lowest I would go would be a polo type shirt.

I have a few silks but they tend no to need much more than a heavy pressing. You can starch silks though. Believe me---I know.
Rayon does not exist in my closet thank you.

Who knows? I've always liked them. My dad liked them. They keep a person nice and cool without looking sloppy.

Nothing is wrong with them per se. I am just not that hot on that material for a shirt. If you are going to wear a collared shirt with long sleeves anyway, you might as well wear regular cotton. They hold up better in the long run and don't look like you slept in them.

Has anyone ever seen a dress shirt of seersucker? The material puckers, but it doesn't wrinkle as much as linen.
