SEARS SOUTHWEST FLIGHT FEDORA

Thanks to Lady Day for sharing this Sears ad of the Southwest Flight fedora.
I had always thought the Pilgrim hats to reflect the popular Stetson Open Road.
But now I believe it was the Stetson Stratoliner.
Here is a re-print of Lady days ad.

I searched and found several ads for the Flight model, but so far none has had the 'airplane ornament' in it.
Several ads made mention of the Flight model being a Pilgram also.

Here is one from 1951 Chicago.

And this one from 1948 is a straw.

Do any of you thin ribbon Pilgram owners have a hat that makes mention of the Flight model?

Fake, Southwest Airlines didn't exist back then, and 'Sears' would have been called 'Sears-Roebuck.'
The Southwest Flight hat has nothing to do with Southwest Airlines.
Read the first ad.
After a little more study, I believe Pilgram was playing off both the Open Road [Southwest] and the Stratoliner [Flight] with this one.

Hmm, I thought it was fake, too, but only because the guys were all wearing mascara!

Not a thin ribbon but....

Seemed like good timing and an appropriate thread to post my new Pilgrim. With the $6.95 price its probably early 50's.

This 'FLIGHT' ad from 1951 Texas makes mention that these hats come in hares fur.

Clearly a fake, hares are spelled 'hairs'.lol lol lol

But on a serious note I wonder why they would advertise genuine hare's fur, was this when wool hats were getting popular?

I totally agree. The pun in the first line of the ad copy says it all:

Genuine American style born on the "plains" of the Southwest...
