Vanson are really nice, though it's not clear from their website to me which jackets do and don't have armour pockets - seems to be the ones I like that don't!
Can you clarify that statement? What's your experience with the leather they provide? Have you been in the store toJohnson Leathers can give you a great fit but can they give you a great leather? That is the downside I have found to dealing with them is that they don't have the best choice of leather.
Can you clarify that statement? What's your experience with the leather they provide? Have you been in the store to
see the selection? They don't always have CXL, but often they can get it. But that's really not the only nice leather
in the world. I'm pretty picky and I've always been impressed by their selection. And did you see the picture I posted
of the alligator jacket they made? They do special orders.
More to the point, they offer a lot more choices than Schott. I can't say I found the
leather appealing on the Perfectos I saw the other day.
Have Lewis ever built a jacket with the pockets to accomodate CE armour? Seem to be very few classically styled leather jackets on the market doing that.
Yep, they have, Lewis collaborated with triumph on a range of super monza and dominators with a triumph badge and CE armour fitted, other than the triumph badge and armour they were standard Lewis cowhide jackets. They pop up on ebay now and then. For my purposes I just wear a back protector or a CE armour vest underneath my jacket if I need protection. This has the added benefit of being stowable in a daysack if im off the bike and can just wear the jacket without it. There is company in Australia, Jackson Leathers, who make replicas of vintage motorcycle jackets but with CE armour, removable insulated liners, a choice of hides including kangaroo. Ive got one of the monza replicas, awesome value and a great long distance riding jacket. link is below:

I DO NOT........That is nice, but I think this one from Schott looks better, especially from behind:

I have not been to the store but Alan has sent me some samples. I would have certainly gone with JL if I liked any of the samples. I also asked him about getting certain leathers and he said that at that time he couldn't get what i wanted. Really, there was nothing there that I would even remotely consider for a jacket.
Alligator is not my thing, sorry. And no, I am not devoted to CXL, though I do own a jacket made with it. Obviously this is all a matter of preference. The heavy naked cowhide that Schott uses on its 141 and other top of the line jackets is, imo, the nicest leather out there. It all depends on what you like.
MC jacket on there website....Man I love leather jackets!!
Very very well said! And gosh what a weakness I really do have.......We're grownups on here taking about leathers?!
I agree. I don't like the cuffs at all on this one.I'm sure Schott jackets are ncie but I just don't like the designs. In this one for example the zippers, cuffs and lateral cinchs seem off to me.
The zipper and cuffs look fine to me. What the hell is a lateral cinch ?I'm sure Schott jackets are ncie but I just don't like the designs. In this one for example the zippers, cuffs and lateral cinchs seem off to me.
