Yes I have no intention of doing that at all and have listed the jacket. My only question is if over time the jacket would look better due to creasing /rolling in the body of the jacket. The length is just too much right now.

The jacket will acquire its own character and will look cool, but it will not affect the length of the jacket

The body length on these 1940 models look very similar to the P628H worn in Schott's listing (25" length is stated in a couple of them):

Did my best to copy his pic stance. Can see it fits a bit looser on me for sure, not to mention the sleeve length. wonder why schott decided to go from 25.5 in medium to 26.5 back length in large.

The Shinki aviator is from the premium Perfecto line right? This pattern is more modern slim long. Large will be too long for you and Medium will be too tight for you.
Your 613 (size 42) is an earlier build right? when the length was 24". The width fits you well, but you could use an extra inch in length. The current ones are 25" long. I think from 2020s and onward or something like that.
Size 44 613 older 24" length / Size 42 618 Current 25" length / Size Medium Perfecto line 26" length
The cut of the 613/618 is better than the slim perfecto line for me. The Medium is just too narrow and cause the whole jacket to ride up. Large might be too loose for me I've never tried one.
It's unfortunate but it's best to let go of your Shinki aviator and find a current 25" length 613/618, they will fit you much better. The steerhide in good batches is very close to the Shinki in terms of finishing and feel and drape too.

You are spot on. The 613 is from the 80s. And a medium will be tighter but close to the right length. Got this jacket because I wanted an aviatot style but gues Ill have to pony up the money and look elsewhere or get a new 613.

I actually purchased the jacket from AliExpress in China for quite an inexpensive price. I've had it for around a year now, and it's been a great jacket for the $$... The material origin tag shows the cowhide was imported from Italy, even though it wasn't advertised as such in the listing. Very nice leather IMO, and breaking in well...Featured products

Back in the days that measurement included the collar. So measured from the base of the collar to the hem the back was about 23" long.

That 25" was measured from the top of the collar. That's how they measured it back then. So that would make the jackets 22.5-23" by our modern measurements while the Schott is still 25" by our modern measurements and more like 27" by the old style.
I'm not saying all vintage aviators were like this. California Sportswear made longer ones for example, but in general, aviators were usually shorter.

I saw no shoulder measurements mentioned in the listings, just the stated 25" length.... Again, the drawings correspond more towards 25" than 23-24" unless my eyes are lying....
The schott jacket looks too long. They apparently prepared for it, and that's why it has a two way main zipper. Which also ruins any callback to a vintage piece. When I first saw this jacket I liked it, but the length and super busy front don't aid the design, they hurt it... It's not a vintage repro at all. It's a modern jacket, plain and simple. Not saying that's a bad thing but it just has nothing in common with the historical styles it poorly emmulates. It's just not that jacket. If viewed under the lens of something entirely modern, I don't think it looks as bad. But I still can never be convinced a cross zip looks good at this length. Type 3 and cross zip leave little wiggle room for length. As soon as they are too long it is impossible to unsee. Other styles can get away with length flexibilty. IMO this one simply can't. A 26.5" back on the size large Schott with any kind of front drop turns this into a cross zip car coat.

Either your eyes are lying or you're ignoring the facts. Let me show you the original JC Penny's aviator design this Schott is based on. Back length is less than 22".Again, the drawings correspond more towards 25" than 23-24" unless my eyes are lying....
Now look at the Schott and the JC Penny's side by side.
