I have 3 Schott jackets and they're all different but all really good in my opinion.

Off the peg for my horsehide café racer brand new , and "used" for the other 2. All in 44"

They did not come close to that kind of money , even the new Horsehide 641HH ( which really is lovely indeed !)

It was $500 USD plus $44 USD to post to Perth Western Australia

Looks soooo like those photos.....

What a difference lightning can make!! They look like different jackets. If it fit perfectly and its horweeen I’d consider it, if I needed tweaks, I’d go Aero.
Same reaction here. I really had no idea lighting made such a huge difference. Went I saw the email blast with that first pick I though wow this is going to get the lounge buzzing! Then I look at the rest of the pics and mehhh

Some actual photos of the jacket. Seems to be pretty much the same CXL Aero is using.

Schott isn't giving a flying...other makers wouldn't be caught dead posting these photos. Not sure why some simple jacket porn escapes some top tier makers. It does tho. As witnessed.

Is Schott really top tier, though?

Isn’t that also very subjective? Cause as far as off the rack goes they do offer a ton of sizes, multiple hides and a crap ton of different styles these days. In my opinion many more options and features than almost any other off the rack options. As far as customization and personalization goes not even the slightest comparison to other top tier. So that really depends on what constitutes top tier. And that’s a quagmire.

Wow, that a bit like saying whether Honda is a top tier bike maker or not, it is all relative. At the top end, they certainly can make world beaters as good as any other brands, but they also make 50cc mopeds(scooters) with a max of 35mph and build some of their bikes in Thailand etc. But what brand do you choose, Ducati or Honda (or Agusta if you can pay the top money)?

Schott to me is a bit like the Levi’s of leather jackets : the perfecto is “the” biker jacket for most people like the 501 is “the” jeans.

Nowadays they both are mostly fashion-oriented but they know what they’re doing most of the times and they can pull out this limited edition stuff which is very good quality. Again same al Levi’s does with their vintage clothing line.

My one point would just be it’s so speculative and so up to personal opinion. Not to mention specialties. Vanson is almost unparalleled for pure riding gear, then you have like Eastman and Goodwear who do much more for flying and WW2 gear, then you have so on and so forth. Is one better than the other...or just different? Schott has nothing on any of those companies for customization or personalization at all. I willingly admit that. And I don’t think they can even say they specialize in anything these days. I just think it’s unfair the reputation they get a lot of the time. As far as I said off the rack options, especially over the last few years they have picked their game up a lot in terms of quality and variety. And they have been doing a lot with different makers and brands of higher quality such as Horween. So I don’t like just dismissing them completely offhand. And yes I own some Schott jackets but I’m no loyalist either I own Vansons and have owned an Aero that I moved on.
