Schott identification

Hi Loungers.
I’ve come across a bomber style jacket on Vestiaire Collective that’s claiming to be a Schott. I’m not so sure… no label inside the collar, can’t see Branding on hardware and the back has 3 panels.
It does have the crafted in USA and Leathercraft labels inside.
It’s a bit expensive if not Schott.
You’re collective help would be appreciated!

Based on the adress, it was made by Leathercraft Process of America.
Probably a fairly budget mall jacket, based on that particular CRAFTED WITH PRIDE IN USA red white and blue star tag I'd say 1980's-1990's.

If it's over $75 I'd pass.

Lol what are you people on about?

It's one of many Schott MA-1 iterations, only without the left sleeve pocket set. Leathercraft Process is a leather cleaning company! But it's a Schott. I had five of these. Great jackets.

There are several of them on eBay but ignore the ridiculously high prices as they're mostly all by the Japanese sellers. Regardless, you shouldn't have to pay anything $150-$200 for one of these if you're in a hurry and with some hunting, you could do a much better deal.

They sell surprisingly fast, too but they've made a lot less of these than the A-2's plus the MA-1 style is in fashion again. It is a very edgy jacket, worn right.

Leather schott MA-1,,i have something similar from the 90s ,very comfortable, versatile jacket
Mine is the Alpha ,with the left side pen pocket. Since recent weight loss i have to layer with this,i wish it was a medium. A heavy well made MA-1.

Did Schott make jackets with 3 panels on the back? I couldn’t find another example. Also no branding on the button and zipper…

I really like the MA1 but prefer the cleaner ‘varsity’ look. This guy is wanting $510AUD for it. Too high IMHO.

I looked up the adress on the label and Schott is not the company that turned up as a manufacturer.
I guess Google was wrong.

There's at least 10 of them on eBay and they all have 3 panel back. Of course Schott made multi-paneled back. Why wouldn't they?

Which reminds me... Ask the seller to dig thru the pockets for the hidden production info tag. Every Schott has it.

The purpose of the label in question was to instruct you where to send the jacket for cleaning & repair and it used to belong to the leather shop with which Schott had partnered up at the time. Schott, Fidelity, etc. jackets all had the exact same "Send to Leathercraft" label before switching to Arrow.
"Crafted with pride in the USA" is always more indicative of a Schott if the main label is missing but the pocket tag is 100% sure bet of course.

That's too much money. Most I paid was $150 for one but I can promise you it's a grade A jacket. Much, much cooler than their A-2 derivatives.

I suppose I'm just used to seeing a different form of this label from others, having never owned a Schott.
I have a fidelity and a vest or two with a tag for this particular cleaning specialist, It's not something I've really payed a ton of attention to but I don't remember there being any kind of mention of a factory store...etc

Suspicions of what? "Leathercraft Process" was a cleaning company Schottmarked on a tag in case someone needed a leather jacket cleaned. After they went out of business, the tag switched to recommend Arrow Leathercare. Neither of them was the jacket maker.
I was concerned that I couldn’t see any Schott branding whatsoever on the images the seller provided, no inside label, no branding on the buttons or zip. I’ve seen other jackets that aren’t Schott that separately have the Leathercraft logo and the crafted in USA labels. I just wanted to know if anyone could confirm the authenticity of this jacket.
Ive actually purchased the jacket, it’s through Vestiaire Collection app which I’ve not used before, they apparently have an ‘authentication process’ whereby the seller sends the item to a hub for authentication then they send on once authenticated. This is included for higher priced items.
I like the jacket so kind of doesn’t matter but would be good to know if it’s a Schott I guess.

I can tell you straight away that the Vestiarie Collective authentication process is a joke, especially when it comes to older jackets.

There's a relatively active Schott subreddit where you can also ask to be sure but this is a Schott MA-1. Some people there know their stuff, even though a lot of them still believes there's a difference between a 618 and a 118 lol.
