Meanwhile...

Apparently, this happened. Not sure how to go on with life knowing this exists and I can't have it. . .

[emoji54]That’s a great looking piece, but a bit pricey. I’ve always favored Schott, but Vanson seems to be quality also and much more affordable. I do like everything about this one though.

Guys... In comparison, that's seriously not a lot of money. Aero CR in the same leather is just a hundred $ less. Himel is $1300 more.

This is Schott. That's a brand name that adds a lot to the price tag and here you have both Schott and Horween. Not to mention the design that's absolute perfection.
I love Vanson too, they make a better jacket but they're small-time compared to Schott. And I believe Vanson HH costs even more than that.

If this was any of the Asian imports, it'd be $3000 plus.

It's a lot, sure. I couldn't afford it but it could be a lot more. Way more.

Give it a couple of days...the infatuation will pass. If it doesn't, well then...sell a couple of things and parlay the money into your new jacket!
Nice looking Horween steerhide...but personally I'm not a big fan of wool lining, or the black hardware. Or the four pocket cafe- prefer just two chest pockets. And for $1130, you could have a custom made Aero cafe- in horsehide...with exactly the trim, hardware, lining and specifications you desire.

I don't understand why Schott only mention the weight of some of the jacket (3-3.5oz), and in some jacket like this one, it only says heavyweight without provide details.

Lol that's basically the exact same jacket I've been buying for the past 5 years. I mean, I have it! Few of them! If the infatuation didn't pass by now, it won't ever. If I had the money, I'd probably have approximately 245 exact same jackets.

@Mysteryo - I think it's just plain old black FQHH.

Exactly! I keep buying the same vintage cafe racer over and over. And I justify it with "But but...look at the elbow pads on this one! And this one is a super rare Cal Leather...in horsehide!" And to everyone else they look exactly the friggin same. I could have stopped at my first Kehoe Cafe over 10 years and 25 jackets ago... and saved myself a tanker full of money. Lol.

I'm sorry..and I know I'll catch hell..but I can't see such a fascination with Schott. Guess it's more a European thing..and maybe an attraction for some of the styling. For me though ( since most seem sized as off the rack jackets ) the sleeves are too short for many of us. Some have mentioned that they do have a made to measure custom site somewhere but it must be very allusive ( I've never seen it ). The Horween Schott price would be much more reasonable if it did included some custom sizing. Vanson makes a better designed jacket IMO most usually with longer sleeves more suited for riding also made to not pull up as much with arms out stretched. Their competition steer is hard to beat for an all around jacket. Now these opinions are just from my experiences.

All cool. Just that Schott revised the sleeves a few years back with most jackets in a size 40 range now having 26" sleeves at default, which puts it right about there with Vanson (easy to tell the sleeves of this jacket are maybe even longer than 26", as they're longer than the body of the jacket). Schott has had some hit and miss designs but this is a seriously well designed motorcycle jacket. Vanson's most recent V7 is a bit more serious bike jacket but just by looking at this Asset, I can tell you right away it isn't far behind.

@El Marro - No way, man... This one's seriously better. Look at the gussets. Four pockets. Slanted chest pockets! Inside sleeve zips. Not to mention the beautiful CXL. Perfection in cafe racer design has been reached and its name is either V7 or the Asset. I would seriously buy it this instant if I could and it'd be the last one for me. At least until the next one comes along. And it will. @technovox understands. Imagine I buy this and then in a few years they re-release it, only with brass hardware. Which of course makes a totally different jacket.

I'm no stranger to the (insane) quest for perfection within a style, I own five G-1s with a sixth one arriving next week!
Between the Asset and the V7 I think the Vanson is the way to go, especially if you could score one in that amazing oxblood color.

I understood Monitor's passion about Schott, I remembered I saw your name in Schott forum many times.
