Schott and Coronado casual belts?

Hi there!
Searching for horween belts in black and tan, I came across Coronado and Schott... They look really nice and have cool buckles.

They charge about 130$ (coronado horsehide horween) and 85$ (schott steer horween) for their casual horween belts.

Would you say that they are good options for horween belts or is there anyone else in particular I need to look at?

Schott's Chromexcel belts are very well made and have great buckle hardware. The caveat is theydon't follow the usual belt sizing rule (jeans waist + 2). If you do, the belt will be way too big. So order the size that matches your jeans waist size.

People pay more than $50 for a leather belt now? Ouch.

I still have a Corter veg tan 12-14oz natural leather belt that has tanned and darkened nicely that I bought for less than $50 in 2020. Corter even sold the belts 3 for $99 bucks but they don’t make belts anymore.

I’d personally just buy a leather belt blank from Tandy leather for 20 bucks or something like this and let my body do the rest or oil and tan it yourself.

I don’t see the appeal in buying a name brand belt. But that’s just personal opinion.

I don't know if I would call either of the above a "name brand" belt. They're just CXL belts; I don't think anyone is pulling the belt off to show that Schott or Coronado is embossed on the underside of the letter–not that anyone would recognize those names anyway.

If you want something like English bridle hide, it'll definitely cost more than $50 even if you're getting a deal.

I like Notsoperfectleather on Etsy. They use wickett and craig leathers and each belt costs around $55 for a 1-1/2 inch wide belt.

I’ve been looking at a Schott Horween Steerhide Belt STYLE: BLT91. I called Schott to ask how long a size 32 belt is… she couldn’t tell me. My mind was blown. Apparently, they’re making them now, but don’t know how long they are!?!

Y at-il quelqu'un qui sache si le site ci dessus est bien un site officiel de Coronado cuir ou si ce sont des escrocs qui ont copier leur site, car les prix sont différents et il n'y a pas de frais d' envoi.

Whoops, just noticed this thread from the OP was started almost a year ago!

I'll just make it as short as I can. I got a Taos belt from Coronado leather last year. Very pricey, supposed to be Horween horsehide. The buckle, which they say is made in Italy, sure is nice. But man, I sure thought the leather would be a lot thicker. Turned out to be very, very thin. If you look at the description, at several points, it says the leather is 10-12 oz. Then later on says it's 7-9 oz. I tend to think that it's 7 oz at best. Which is why it's so thin. My bad, for taking a chance and hoping for the best. You live and learn. I prefer extremely thick belts that last at least a decade without warping or stretching. If you prefer thin belts, and you don't mind the hefty price tag, then have at it.

I usually wear USA Amish made belts that are one piece, very thick, at least 12 oz leather. No gluing or stitching layers. You can find them if you search thoroughly. They are inexpensive, anywhere from 35 to 50 bucks. But you might have to change out the buckle, which of course adds to the total you spend on it. There are some good buckles on ebay, just have to spend some time to search. Look for ones made in Taiwan or anywhere else except China.
