Schott 689H fit and long term wear

Howdy folks, hope everyone is having a splendid day.

Been considering some cafe style jackets lately. Initially, the 641HH was the one I am considering, but stumbled across the 689H from Schott and it stood out to me.

Now, it's possible that I am off, as I am waiting to get the measurements from Schott, but does the 689H fit slimmer than the 641HH? Or are they basically the same jackets with different collars/wind flaps? Also, any comments on the long term experience with the horsehide used in 689H? It seems to be a different (Italian sourced?) leather?

Appreciate your time.

I had a 689H for 6 months bought new. The leather was stiff as a board until the day I sold it. The wind flap drove me nuts and was the reason I didn't keep it.

Cheers. How was the fit? Was yours's size same as your chest size?

I have had both of those jackets in 44"

The 689H was "squeezy" at 90+ Kg. Sold it to a friend who much admired it.

Actually his lady persuaded me and bought it from me for his birthday. A good lass for sure !

The 641HH fits me perfect from new near 10 years ago, is to this day my go to winter jacket.

The leather is exquisite , and was on both jackets.

689H is more tapered , not so good for us "belly boys" sadly....

I have often thought of a 641HH with the "Shirt collar" of the 689 but never pursued it.

Thank you kindly! That was the detail I was looking for!
Lucked out on the gene lottery where the men on both sides of the tree branch are flat bellied, so the extra mid section space is unnecessary, and therefore always opt for the more tapered options.

The grain develops beautifully and the leather drapes like a thick blanket once broken in.
If it has your seal of approval as well, then that's good enough for me. Cheers!

I have handled the jacket but I don't own it; I do have a different jacket in the same leather, so take my comments to be about the hide. I love that jacket though–the only reason I don't own it is that I passed up the chance to buy it at a massive discount a couple of years ago and now I can't bring myself to buy it.

Are there any discernable differences between the hide in it and the hide used in say the 613SH/618HH?
