Get the long half belt. Pea coats look fairly disastrous on even not-very-stout folks, especially in black. This, of course, is only my view (they can look ok in brown, but make people look a lot bigger. Too much heft). I recently got a lhb in cordovan Fqhh and it is the most amazing thing I own- in fact, I prefer it to the black stockman, the brown highwayman and the (damn slim-fitting) double-breasted dark brown aero steer hide one-off I own.
Same here. I've had a FQHH brown lhb for 2 1/2 years now and it's the one jacket I wear all the time (weather permitting in Miami). Aero really nailed the fit for me. Every day I see jackets on here that have me aching for another leather, but until I get the credit cards paid off I'm really glad I have this one.

I normally take a size 40, but took a 38 for the lhb. It works very well trimmed down as the side adjusters allow for wiggle/sweater room. The one double-b I have in steer is also a 38, but it's still a tad lengthy and hefty...

Same with me. Size 40 normally, but a size 38 in a LHB and I have plenty of room.
