I don’t think you could slide down to a 44. I had the same thought on a Schott 641hh. Felt kind of between sizes so I tried going down to a 42 and at best it fit like a sausage casing. I think yours will just get better as it breaks in.

What would Schott sz 46 equate to in a Maxwell or Enfeild
Schott CR and Maxwell are wildly different patterns so I don’t think you can make a real comparison.
I would think the Schott 46” would be fairly similar to the Enfield 44” (which runs big).

I don’t think it’s the sizing or measurements but the cutting. Neither Maxwell or Enfield cutting fits you in the shoulder and back and arm hole like your Schott 641.

The least expensive way is to get Schott to put a dress collar on your 641 and call it a day. And leave this place and never come back. Unless you want to burn more holes in your wallet. Joking and seriously.

If you want buttons jacket, you have to go custom. And it’s gonna cost you!

The only two jackets that I’ve got that fits like your 641 is the Johnson M200-L and Lost World J24. Wide and tall sloping shoulders (20”-22”, rest-pulled), huge upper sleeve (9.25” for me, 9.5” plus for you), low armhole, full action back.

80s / some 50s cutting fits you best.

Johnson M200-L (80s cut), size 38! You would need 40.

LW J24 I don’t know what the straight zip version is called, this is size 46, a bit big for me but perfect for you, feel like one size grade up from the size 38 JL above.
