Schott 118/618: feasible for a tall person?

I'm a tall guy with 1.8 meters (don't know how much is it in feet) and I do have a problem with regular Perfectos being short. Can't reach the pockets without weird gymnastic. I do own a 618 but I keep picking up my cheap (Wilson) Open Road and I tend to wear the 618 with another jacket on top of it.
That means you are 5'-11" tall, which is more or less within a Regular length, so I'm surprised length is an issue for you. But of course body type and weight are factors.

AeroFan - You nailed the perfect length on that awesome Vanson Hman - What a beaut! Here's some shots of my Aero h/h "Motorcycle" with sheepskin lining - length (28") on this one is just about perfect for me but maybe just a wee bit too long - tried to get a shot of the heavy duty zipper I had done to replace that weak stuff Aero uses -

Stiff as a billy goat's pecker. ;-) I need to put some miles on this one - but it is usually far too warm in temps much above 70 (even for riding). If I remember correctly I picked this one up for around 5 benjamins!

Don't know if there is any difference from the "european model" from the "american model".
A size 38 fits me nice... but a bit short in length.

I've had a hankering for a Schott Perfecto. Either 118 or 618. The 618 is listed to be about an inch shorter than the 118. Catch is, as many know, their lengths for a tall bloke. A "long" 118 is out of the question, as 28" is far too long to look cool and doesn't exactly exude the confidence of a cool punk rocker and instead looks like a bag. 6'2", 155-160.

So I suppose my question is, should I just go for it and try a regular 118 or 618? Nevermind the length norms and rock n roll it?...

:)
Hi,

I'm 6'2" also and 194 lbs.
I own a Schott 618 black HH, size 42, the US model. Measurements are as follows:
- back length (collar base seam - lower edge): 24 inches
- sleeve length (shoulder seam - cuff): 25 inches

It fits rather short but normal for this type of jacket. It fits as it should. Doesn't look ridiculous or smth.
As chest width, for me is rather fitted (chest, shoulders). If you want it like this maybe you could get a 40? But then depends how much smaller the length gets.
In case you need a pic I can provide one.

The 618 fits better for me than the Aero version. The Aero is a bit shorter and kind of boxy. However Aero HH is more heavy duty. 618 HH has a bit of shine, it's more pliable, reveals grain easier, therefore is more eye catchy.

Thanks for this useful real-world info. These jackets sound pretty forgiving in terms of sizing, sort of like some flight jackets which shouldn't work by the measurements but do.

You're welcome. Initially getting the measurements through ebay I was not sure. But given the good price/shape I took the risk.
