Schott 118/618: feasible for a tall person?

The Vanson Competition weight may be as stiff as cardboard at first, but it sure breaks in to a really nice and soft hide. It is the softest of all the cowhides I have. Soft and broken in, but still thick. In fact it is softer than any of my FQHH jackets by the high end makers.

25" sleeves on someone 6'2" is going to be far too short, unless you have shrunken arms or you're a hipster.

Langlitz seems to run wide across the shoulders from what I've seen, which will impact the sleeve length positively for you Nick.

Always better to factor in the sleeve length from back center collar to end of sleeve - that will allow for the shoulder width. But yes, 25" (here the seller said he wears a 34 sleeve so shoulder to shoulder might be around 18-20") would be too short in my opinion. I am also 6'2" (dress shirt is 18/35) and like a total sleeve length of at least 36" with 38" being just about right for a riding jacket. Remember many Langlitz are custom made to fit so be careful and ask for all the measurements before you shell out the big bucks.

Nick, if I skimmed this thread correctly, you stated a perfect length is 25-25 1/4 inches, and that the Schott 118 is 25 inches. If this is the case give it a go. I have one and really enjoy it. It is quite soft and the hide feels rather thick. It is the kind of jacket one can toss on and then forget about it, as there is no fighting with super-stiff leather. People seem to take notice of this jacket.
I only wish it had brass hardware instead of the much-preferred-by-most-other-people nickel, but I endure the burden.......

Thanks. I'm rather glad I didn't win that Langlitz. How is yours doing? You have the butterscotch goat or am I mistaken?

Definitely a Schott in the future perhaps. I've been hard on them in the past, but the Perfecto has the countours that no other maker has, if that makes sense. I settled on an Aero Board Racer because, well, blue. And it's quirky. Perfecto styles will always be around but that BR made me jump out of my chair. I don't even fancy cafe racers all that much. But it just looks awesome.

I'm a tall guy with 1.8 meters (don't know how much is it in feet) and I do have a problem with regular Perfectos being short. Can't reach the pockets without weird gymnastic. I do own a 618 but I keep picking up my cheap (Wilson) Open Road and I tend to wear the 618 with another jacket on top of it.
