Schemes you use to justify your expanding hat collection to your other half

This is intended to be light hearted as to how you justify taking over rooms in your home to fill with hats, or how you justify that you need another hat when you already have one to cover every day of the month in the face of your other half's querying or quarrelsome look when s/he texts you "another hat has arrived".

This will hopefully give some (legal!) ideas to other hat addicts.

My lame offerings:
- is to sell the stingy brims or find random hats (including baseball caps) and say that I honestly posted "another hat" on ebay for sale;
- buy her something she wants, randomly;
- get her into hats ! She wants an optimo blocked straw and I forwarded a link to Esther's website.

I am sure there is much better out there, so please share.

I forgot to add one: "I need to fill the void since you made me give up my unicorn collection". She said "you don't have one!" So I responded "exactly...". Then bought another hat.

First: mention the idea...I will usually get some looks of how stupid or ridiculous the idea sounds.
Second: wait a few days and mention the idea again, and add some rational as to why it is a good idea.
Third: tell her I really want X and for her to let me know when the budget allows it.
If I can show her the rational and how it is really good for the whole family or how it saves money in the long run, then step two is usually all I need.

After step three, the wait can be anywhere from 1-3 months. I can always work an extra shift at work and then go buy what I want, but I haven't found anything I want bad enough to sacrifice my family time. I'll go without everything else, but never go without family time.
