Yep!

The first time I watched "Walker: Texas Ranger" I only watched a few seconds. When Chuck Norris came out wearing a black hat I changed channels. I decided if they can't get that little detail correct then the rest of the show can't be worth watching.

With you there Mike. Add in the hat his sidekick wore plus the caped Outback-styled duster...not for me!
Now there was a recent female Texas Ranger show that did have proper hats on the Rangers....too "Dallas" for my taste tho....

Tom, Nick Nolte played a Texas Ranger in a movie called "Extreme Prejudice". That is the only time I have seen an actor playing a modern day Ranger that was dressed properly. The reason Nolte got it right is Texas Ranger Joaquin Jackson helped him with the outfit. He even had the correct belt buckle. The Rangers' belt buckles are made by prisoners in the Texas Department of Corrections!

Don't wanna hijack Landman's awesome thread, but I gotta post these too! Austin 1932. Several of the last old "Indian fighter" rangers here. Cool hats. That same guy in above pics in this one too!

Go figure!

Renault, he definitely was famous in his day. He got Bonnie & Clyde!

I feel kinda weird a lot of times inside when I read or see a pic of him. I'm once removed from him! My adopted grandfather and that old ranger were close friends. I also have an old gun collecting bud that lived right next door to him and his family when they lived on Riverside drive in Austin. He said they used to "play" with several of that infamous couples guns around the house!!!!

Most all the Rangers I knew wore business suits. ;)

If not they had on a white shirt and pressed jeans.

I went out with one, one day as he wanted to show me a particular firearm he had in his trunk ( was an old Hacker Martin built muzzleloading rifle). When he opened the trunk it looked like he had just raided the Fort Sam Armory! LOL!

Renault, most Rangers I've seen stationed in urban areas wear a coat and tie with hat and boots. The ones stationed in rural areas tend to dress much more western.

Yes! Then again most of the ones I saw (professionally) were higher ranking folks in Austin for official business. Hell they are all retired now! LOL! I still stay in touch with some! Worked on their guns.
