Russian Women on the Eastern Front?

I spoke to an old Russian woman about her WWII experiences once. She was an engineer who was sent to the Eastern Front to disassemble machinery. German machinery? I don't know -- I think it was toward the end of the war.

My Russian language abilities were not so hot at the time. Wish they were, that would have been some neat-o info to share.
