Never tried Sailor Jerry, but even the ghetto liquor store in my neighborhood has it.

Ron Anejo is good. I also really like Appleton, Goslings (best for Dark and Stormies), Ron Viejo de Caldas (a great Columbian rum), and Flor de Cana, which is from Nicaragua. Flor de Cana is fantastic, but it is apparently not sold in the US. I've only seen it in various Central and South American countries.

Yeah for sure it is good.. I was surprised. It actually tasted better at home than at Viva.. (lol taste buds were dead).
My friend and I were stumbling around the ballrooms with a bottle. (12.99 at the casino gift shop!) I have never been that drunk for so many hours in a row.

I second the Flor de Cana. OMG...I forgot about this one.. well, in truth I only had a sip.. but the bottle was really unique. It was the Centenario one. Ay Chihuahua.....smooooth.

Yes, Flor de Caña is a grand sip. My only expensive-ish one right now is Diplomático Reserva, from Venezuela. Sipping right now, on the rocks. Lovely.

I have a good friend that prefers Pyrat on the rocks. I drink it neat, but hey, different strokes...
For neat sipping, along with the aforementioned Pyrat, I like HC7 when I have some on hand, and Zaya, which is pretty nice stuff as well.

Sailor Jerry rum is my favorite ever. I originally bought a bottle because I liked the packaging, and was surprised to find that it's really good! I usually put it in Cuba Libres, but ran out of Coke recently and decided to try it on the rocks. I'm not going to bother with the Coke any more.

It's weird - all the liquor stores in VA are state run so they should be the same, but I can find it at only one in town. It's worth the few extra miles.

I found it!
I found Sailor Jerry Rum this weekend in PA! And I realized why I love it so much: that hint of caramel flavor. Oh man, I want some NOW, but it may be a LITTLE too early (it's 9:30am here on the East Coast).

Sailor Jerry is a good spiced rum. I'm not really a fan of spiced rums, though. They're tasty, just not something I would go for most of the time.

Meyers is decent, inexpensive, and readily available. It's pretty good neat from a mug, or mixed with RC Cola, and I always have a bottle on hand for any recipe that calls for rum. It's the defacto standard for bananas foster.

Gosling's Black Seal is pretty similar to Meyers, but I like it a little better. IIRC, it's a bit cheaper, but not as readily available. Again, neat from a mug is my general preference for cheap dark rums. We tried to keep a handle of it on hand in college for pirate shenanigans. I killed off a third of a handle (a handle is 1.75L) and woke up none the worse for wear, though my roommate who had about the same amount was pretty messed up the next day, so YMMV.

Mount Gay Extra Old is a REALLY good rum. Aged in old bourbon casks. My roommate bought a fifth of it, and decided he didn't like it (but then he doesn't like bourbon either), so he sold it to me. It's mostly gone now, but I've been taking it slow, just a snifter of it now and then, sipped over a long period of time.

Ahhh college.
