Boy did I love Roy Rogers! The man was a human Christmas tree! I don't think there any two photos of him with the same outfit. He must have kept a small army of seamstresses in work full time making his clothes.
Great stuff and definitely from a better time to be a kid IMHO. :eusa_clap
Just imagine the trouble a kid would get into these days with having anything like that! There's been plenty of recent stories about kids being suspended from school for really doing nothing but being a harmless kid with an imagination and having some fun, but that's just not allowed anymore. Oh well....
So who's going to be the first on here to outfit his hat that way?
I had at least one of the kid-sized silverbelly hats. My mother kept the beadwork band on it, which spelled out "Roy Rogers," and I still have it. And in recent years I've been snapping up the Whitman "Adventures for Young Readers" original novels -- "Ghost of Mystery Rancho," "The Enchanted Canyon," et al. Some are kind of sloppy in the plotting department, but all are grand examples of fast-moving storytelling.
