Ron Howard fedora

RBH

Bartender
While looking around the net ran across this pic of Ron Howard on the set of Da Vinci Code. Pretty nice looking fedora, does anyone have any idea what brand fedora it may be? Its always good to see a celebrity wearing a fedora and it not be too big or really goofy looking.

Very nice hat, indeed. Sorry, RBH, but I can't offer an answer. But I'd also like to know what hat he is wearing, as well.

Could it be an Akubra or just simply custom made?

Don't think it's an Akubra

It looks like a CEO with a higher crown, but the pinch looks hand-bashed to me. I wouldn't expect Howard to go custom, but who knows. Either way, it's a great step up from his usual ballcap-on-set look. Maybe he picked it up on location in France.

Man, I wish I had some input that would be of use, but since I am a beginner I can just say maybe he'll start a trend that the rest of of have already determined to be cool and mainstream......THE RETURN OF THE FEDORA!!

sorry couldn't help myself......looks better than the basball hat

I was just thinking to myself the other day that Ron Howard should wear a fedora instead of those asinine ball caps he's been wearing since he went bald. I hope it's a permanent change.

Maybe he was trying to copy Spielberg?

Despite all he has done in recent decades, Ron Howard has always been Opie to me. That association is so strong that on my first glance of that photo of him in a fedora, I found it decidedly odd, even a bit disturbing.
But on the second and third and fourth views, the hat looked less and less odd and more and more like it belongs on him. Even Opie gets to grow up at some point (what is he, 50-something now?).
EDIT: Just Googled Ron Howard to answer my own question. He's 52 now. And the photo accompanying his brief bio on sitcomsonline.com shows him wearing a fedora.

Opie's Fedora

Speaking of hats and Opie, ever notice that Sheriff Taylor NEVER wore a hat, police uniform or civilian, in Mayberry RFD? Barney wore his cap all the time, and off duty he wore a great old straw fedora. Andy never donned headgear. Trivial for sure, but just as puzzling was why in the old (50's black and white) Highway Patrol, Broderick Crawford cruised the highways and byways in a suit and fedora???

I must say fedoras look good on him. Of course he may have more reason than most people for covering his head now; both Opie and Richie Cunningham had a fine full head of red hair, and that's what people expect to see on Ron today!

Yeah, the boyish face and the chrome dome are an incongruous combination. lol

But you gotta like a Hollywood guy who decides that bald ain't so bad. Lord knows he could afford the best "cure" available, so his shiny dome is a matter of choice. (Of sorts, anyway.) Good for him.
