RMC J24 zipper

I had a #10 YKK on my RMC J-22. It didn’t look out of place and worked like a charm. I picked up a rebound in a like-new J-24L after I sold the J-22, and I’m already thinking about replacing that anemic little #5 Talon with a #10 Conmar even though I haven’t experienced any issues with it. The only thing stopping me is that I may end up selling it.

Sound great thanks to everyone for the responses !
Looks I’ll go with a # 10
Any thoughts on a two way zipper for the j24 ?

I believe @Bfd70 is getting or already gotten one installed on his J23. So he could tell you more.

It’s definitely more of a thing for straight zips. FWIW, it’s convenient if your j24 is a bit longer and you just want to make it more comfortable when seated or riding.

I am currently in the process with great leathers. Jmax turned me on to it. I use the LW j23 on the bike a lot. It is long enough to just cover my (pants) belt. Being seated on the bike was creating a sharp fold about 2” up the jacket and i didnt like the way that looked. To be truly a functional a motorcycle jacket needs to hit above your belt or have a 2way.

I put #10 zippers on everything, damn the torpedoes and "historical accuracy". They look badass and never break.
What’s your go-to #10? I love the vintage repros/NOS but dang it I want reliability lol. I am a big fan of the beefy japanese Universal zippers that freenote cloth uses on their heavy duty jackets. But I would also love something two-way.

On an RC Hercules would a #8 be more appropriate?

I'm a big fan of two-way zips. Unfortunately, only one of my leather jackets has a zip like this. But if I ever need to replace the zips, I'll put a two-way zip in.

Just got off the phone with Dena. Sounds like mine might be the last crosszip LW she works on. Jacket almost beat her.
Yeah I’ve seen other posts here mentioning the difficulty involved for her with their thick leather.

Being pedantic here, but specifically LW cross-zips? I’m not sure there’s any appreciable difference with an LW straight-zip but I could be wrong
