It's not that hard to join with a normal email. I think some folks are always wanting to beat something down.
As for frequency of posts - it's not just about quantity. It's about quality of posting.
It's a more specific site rather than the much more wider reference and entertainment tool that Fedora is.
It is a superb reference tool with many members with excellent knowledge to share. Many of whom are members of the Fedora Lounge website.
If you read the latest news it has not gone under it is a technical glitch that is being resolved. "Not Surprised ". ... I do think that is a very poor choice of words from someone who has, as you say, just joined the site.
Hopefully when it returns when you use it more and appreciate it as well

Nicely said, and as others have stated, you don't realize how good it is until it's gone. A great place for reproduction vendors as you can plug your stuff endlessly, and very specific to miltary jackets and related gear. Lots of friends there over the years and it is a privilege for me to be a part of it. If it's too hard for someone to call their internet provider and get their original email then it's not really the place for you. If you love military jackets and accoutrements, then you are just missing out simple as that

I am lucky because I am still paying for my old folks' broadband..(and yes, they have faster connection than my own home....), that is why I still have a ISP email address for VLJ registration. Or, unless you are willing to use your work email, it will also work.

I don't have a work email, all i have is a Hotmail account, same address i have had for 20 years! I'm sure i am not the only one in that situation...

That's good to know, but I was under the impression that all internet providers also provide an email with the service. At least I have in the past couple of years, AT&T, Century link, Comcast, and one called Roadrunner I think. I bounce from one to the next all the time depending on better prices, speed, etc. and all have given me an email address, it's used to access the account online and pay the bill, etc.

Most definitely. I have a Comcast address, though I absolutely never use it. You can change your address once you've been signed up, can't you?

Don't think so, the whole idea behind it is the ability to block the ISP address as JL stated. But he also stated that the whole thing is outdated. I also note that the Email I'm registered with must be over 5 years and 5 new ISP addresses old. I, haven't so much as been warned for bad behavior but getting back on isn't a hard thing to do for the determined.

Usually all you need to do is call your provider and verify your account in a number of different ways, from there they can tell you your email address with them. 5-10 minutes on the phone is all it takes, not hard at all if you really want to check out VLJ.

I've been a member of VLJ for about 7 years and have to agree with what some others here have pointed out. It's a fantastic resource and the depth of knowledge (especially concerning flying jackets) is unsurpassed and truly encyclopedic. Whilst it doesn't have nearly the same sort of participation as here it's far more specialised and that is its real worth.

I don't post terribly often there but if I have a specific question or am trying to source something it's the place to do it, if it concerns flying jackets, gear, etc. I've always received excellent advice, very knowledgeable responses and terrifically helpful members.

Great site and it'll be great when it's back up and running.
