I had a feeling his time was short when he stepped down as CEO recently. Too young.

Steve Jobs' passing is quite a loss. The man was a visionary...the creative force behind Apple. Why didn't I see anything about this on the news?

My daughter works for Apple and called crying this afternoon. It is a sad day for those who knew him. He put up a good fight to the end. I wish we had more committed leaders in business and the world than we do today. We lost a great one today.

An excellent life cut short. He made an impact on the whole world in one way or another. Sadly thought of him as I listened to my iPod on my drive home from work today, where I found out.

It's no secret that you can count me right out of the iCult, BUT never let it be forgotten that a human life ended here, a human person who had friends and family. I feel for them on their loss. I hope Mr Jobs can now rest in peace free of the suffering his condition must have caused him, and that perhaps the publicity this has generated can also lead to the furtherance of medical research in the hope that others in the future may suffer a bit less.

As a few of my colleagues and friends pointed out this morning, we wouldn't have careers, homes, cars, etc. if it weren't for Steve Jobs. I don't recall being hit so hard by someone I never met (although I missed that chance at work one day sadly) It's sad, but I thought about his words this morning when I didn't want to get out of bed: "Live each day as if it's your last, because someday you'll be right"
Indeed.

This is very, very true for many of us. If not for Apple, and some of the visionary things they created (of which I give Jobs a lot of credit for fostering an environment where that kind of innovation happened) the tech field wouldn't look nearly like it does today.

I only own one i-Device and I don't agree with all of Apple's "technical decisions." So I'm not an Apple "fan." But that doesn't mean I don't recognize the huge impact that Apple has had on IT and various devices, and therefore, overall society.

I'm sorry for his personal family's and his Apple family's loss.

I'm sorry the man's dead, especially since he's the same age as I am but in 2004 Apple closed their plant in the Sacramento area and sent those Jobs to South Korea.
It's harmful to middle class Americans when our most profitable companies out source their manufacturing to Asia and expect the same people who's jobs they've eliminated to still buy their products.

In the Silicon valley where I live interest in high tech is naturally very high and Jobs and Wozniack are local heroes. Jobs is an icon in many ways and is the Henry Ford of personal computing. And despite his numerous personal failings Ford was a genius and giant of American Industry.

I hear the Ford comparison bandied about but I just don't see it. Ford produced low priced affordable cars and had a huge market share; while Apple produces high priced products and has a relatively small market share.

R.I.P. Steve Jobs. I know I'm late, but I use his products every day, whether I consciously think of that or not. I own a Mac computer (my only computer), and a second generation iPod Touch. I am even considering the next iPhone to replace my cell phone of four years. Jobs was a very innovative and valuable person for the advancement of technology.
