As an earlier person expressed differently, it's anonymity that makes tough guys out of cowards. I'm so very pleased that people on the Lounge, despite their anonymity, are polite and considerate almost all the time to others.

ShortClara,

I didn't know you could do that--ya learn something new every day! I'm planning on selling some stuff in the near future and will take this advice. Thanks!
Yes, you just need two different e-mails - you can even tie them both to the same PayPal account.

eBay sellers have to wait 7 days before they can file the NPB I do believe. If you pay within the 7, and they do not sell (b/c they have relisted) you can file a Non-Performing Seller if you wanted to. Relisting after 0/1 days have gone by is insane - it's more trouble than it's worth, and I don't think you get fees back if you don't go through the NPB process as a seller. Sorry you had this bad experience :(

Block them - is your bidding ID your selling ID as well? If you're just a buyer on eBay, I'd recommend leaving a neg because, after all, this was a negative experience for you with a non-performing seller. You will get one back, but negs for bidders just don't matter as much as negs for sellers. You may not want to bother, but I do think that honest feedback helps everyone on the 'Bay. If you do sell with your ID, too, I recommend getting an ID just for bidding, so a freak like this can't ruin your feedback ;) I have two for just that reason.

Thanks for the intel ShortClara!

Sefton, the guy is not only a jerk (please excuse my language), but a stupid rude jerk at that:rage:
I also think you need to leave feedback so those of us who prefer civil business transactions will know to steer clear. It is good to know that one can have two IDs because sellers like that are sometimes vindictive - like that's a surprise. :eusa_doh:
I am still new to the workings of eBay so when a stated return policy proved to be a sham, I accepted the loss, but left accurate *civil* feedback of the transaction. The seller responded with the same type of unnecessary vitriol you experienced and also used that same phrase: "unprofessional bidder." Mind you, I had paid promptly (like you, I want to get what I won as quickly as possible so I always pay within an hour of receiving the invoice) and had accepted the fact that I was stuck with the item. Long story short: I emailed the seller questioning the use "unprofessional bidder" and forwarded the emails documenting my efforts to comply with their return policy. The good news is they did accept the return and refunded my money, but since then, I check feedback before I bid.
If you do not relate the experience, someone else will end up blind sided like you were.
Think about it.

Did you respond to their email? I would make sure you have all of this documented and the emails are indeed through ebay, and forward them on to ebay when a dispute is opened.
Afterall, they are now a non-selling seller!
It states right here that a seller MAY NOT:
Refuse to accept payment for an item at the end of a successful sale.

If they mark you as a non payer I believe ebay would be contacting you, and you'll need to tell them what happened.

I do wish I knew their ID, so I could mark them off the list! Sellers should realize word of mouth goes beyond ebay feedback.
Best wishes!

Whatever happens, ebay must know about the issue~ esp. that your paypal wasn't working.
Here's more info,
If a seller has refused to complete a sale, and payment has not been sent or payment has been refunded, report the seller. Make sure to include a copy of the email documenting the seller's refusal to complete the sale with the full message text and complete email headers when making your report.

If a buyer has paid for an item and has been unable to receive the item or a refund, or believes the item was significantly misrepresented, they should refer to the eBay Item Not Received or Significantly Not as Described process. Buyers will also find instructions that will allow them to contact eBay to report the seller on this page.

Note: Eligibility for buyer protection services is determined by the payment method that you use and the eBay country site where the item was purchased. You can review how your purchase is protected on the item page.

You can only open a dispute through the specific eBay country site where you purchased the item. If you try to open a dispute on an eBay country site other than the site where you purchased the item, you will be asked to continue your dispute on the appropriate eBay site.

After receiving a report, eBay will consider the circumstances of the alleged offense. If a complaint cannot be proven with certainty, it is possible that no action will be taken. Due to privacy issues, eBay will be unable to discuss the result of the investigation.

*UPDATE*

Update: The relisted fan has sold and it went for more than the first time when the seller refused to accept payment. Well, perhaps his life isn't ruined now:eusa_booh I hope that the winner doesn't get burned like I did. (now that his auction is over I will post the link. If this isn't allowed please let me know.)

After I originally posted this thread I won this fan: A Wagner, fully restored and with a NOS cord. I paid $34.95. I paid with my PayPal account. The account problem-which was never a financial one-was fixed.

By the way, does anyone have any knowledge as to what decade the Wagner is? My guess is 1920's although it may be 1930's though. Cheers!

Wow. The rude seller has perfect feedback. I'm kinda surprised about that.
Either I'm very unlucky and was the recipient of his first bout of rudeness or there are other bidders like me who didn't post a negative so as to avoid getting a negative against themselves. I probably should post one. .........

Beautiful fan Sefton!
I have to wonder now if the nasty seller got a higher bid under the table and they were just glad you gave them an "opportunity" not to accept payment... ya never know!
