Love that Hat!

I don't ride, but do have these leather riding pants. They have this NRA tag which was used from 1931-1933 then abolished. These are one of the oldest leather garments that I have.

Very nice. Interesting combination of zipper and lacing at the hem, not seen that before - very practical.

A very proud owner even took it to a photo studio. Young guns at the dawn of WWII. The owner of my riding gear probably lost his life in this insanity, because it's almost unworn.

Nice to have those lovely vintage pieces, even better to know something of their history. Alas, yes - all too many avoidable deaths caused by war across the twentieth century on such an especially horrific scale, too.

Here are photo´s from July 1947 taken at the bike meeting in Laconia N.H. They show pretty good the stylish motorcycle fashion back in the days. Right before the rookies of "The wild one" changed the motorcycle scene forever. You can see original Indian Ranger jackets, breeches, riding boots, belts and hats and Indians also. Enjoy.

This is my oldest motorcycle gear. It was tailored in the 1920s in Germany. Veg tanned brown horsehide now showing a variety of shades of brown. Style is almost like a vest and both jacket and breeches have button down pockets. Buttons are made of Bakelite, the first industrial produced plastic (very envouge back in the days). Jacket is designed straight with big collar, small shoulders and a high armskye. Breeches are high waist especially at the back to avoid wind catching the spine. This suit was on display at a private motorcycle collection since the 1960s. The leather helmet was made in Paris in the 1920s also.

I have always had an interest in pre WWII military, horsemanship and a resulting collection of vintage and mounted riding gear, having ridden horses since the early 60s. As for preferences, jeans are not the answer but riding breeches and boots are. It's a family thing since my dad rode Indians in the 30s and 40s and my first vehicle was a 1961 Triumph. I do have leathers, as are visible in a few photos I personally would not ride without armor and leg protection anyway. Remarkably, I have had a few bikers who are wanting to know where they can pick up vintage riding gear, as well.

Breeches for Motorcycling.
This is a fine example of breeches, that were designed for motorcycling. Dispatch riders of the Royal British Army used them and they were made in 1944. You can see the stamp "W D" that is for War Department. Thick military olive gabardine.The very same breeches are pictured in Rin Tanakas bible.
I want to show how they fit as they are really high waist. Won't catch no cold air in your back. Love them for riding. And they feature a map pocket that fits a modern cellphone.
