I chose sterling for the ribbon for a new hat coming from Black Sheep Hat Works. Many offered suggestions, and thanks to all. Here are the photos Bob Jessee sent for my approval. Outdoors, the ribbon looks lighter, which he tells me captures the contrast better than the photos under artificial light. The hat is on the way.

I think it contrasts well in both of those photo shoots. Where the shadow is hiding the contrast, you'd need the ribbon to be self-illuminating if you wanted to show contrast.
