I just thought I'd share a picture of my grandparents in the summer of 1930 (the year they got married) at their summer cottage on Greenwich Bay in Buttonwoods, RI. My grandfather had just gotten back from a day of quahogging.

I'm pretty sure every single female member of the Lounge would kill for that adorable outfit she's wearing. Lobsters!!!
Oh, yes, DH: I'm sure they would.

BW: Both my parents were RoaDIElanders, as well (born 1918 and 1919, in Providence). WWII blew 'em out of Little Rhodie, and they never made it back. Unfortunately--as you well know--most of the city they knew (and all the houses they lived in) were knocked down...so, although I've lived within an hour's train ride of the city for 30 years now....I rarely "go home."

Seeing as we have a family member associated with this [great!] family photo...do you happen to know if the outfit in question was purchased on the trip, as a honeymoon souvenir, or was something she made up or purchased for the trip? Either way...it's great. And for you ladies handy with a sewing machine....if those lobsters are printed, I seem to remember seeing some tablecloths locally that are a pretty good match....

I'm positive that my Grandmother purchased that outfit rather than made it as she was never one to sew her own clothes. Other than that, I don't know when or where she bought it. She always had lots of this type of summer wear for use at her summer cottage. They weren't on a trip, BTW. They were just relaxing at their cottage as they did every summer. The cottage is still in my family. My Grandfather passed away two years ago but my Grandmother will turn 99 this year.
