Review of my 2nd THEDI Jacket

Hey guys, I need your advice on the Thedi Markos jacket!
I'm really torn on this one.

Overall, I really like the buffalo leather – it's firm yet comfortable and feels great to wear. Even while driving, it doesn’t get in the way, which I definitely can’t say about my FQHH Aero.

But...
I'm struggling with the color and the shawl collar. The color isn’t the easiest to match, and with this type of collar, I’m wondering: does the whole look feel a bit outdated? Especially when paired with a classic T-shirt and denim jeans, it just doesn’t seem to work for me.

Some say this color is something like "signature'"of Thedi, but I don’t necessarily want to give off a "bohemian" or overly unconventional vibe (sorry for my English). Any ideas on how to style it in a more urban and modern way? Or is it time to let it go?

Looking forward to your honest opinions and suggestions! Thanks in advance!

I do really like the model, but like you said the lighter brown color is kinda hard to match, so a pair of boots/shoes in a similar color to match with would be great(I for one love to match my jacket with my shoes :) ).

Also I think shirts(flannels, oxford button downs and such) works great with a shawl collar(fills up the space almost like a blazer or similar, very nice), so try out some shirts with it :)

Overall I think it's a great jacket that fits you well, but I also know I would have a hard time wearing a natural colored jacket because of the whole matching thing :p

Hope this made sense haha, cheers!

I am not a fan of the shawl collar but the jacket looks great and I don't think there's anything that doesn't fit a pair of jeans and a plain tshirt like in your first post (maybe a suit blazer :p). As a pretty urban guy, I don't see the problem with the color, perhaps the only thing is that this will likely be your statement piece no matter what you combine it with, but that would also happen with any classic cross zip.

When it comes to matching a neutral jacket our own @Kenan (hope you are fine with me using your pictures mate :)) has it down to a science, he makes his natural MrFreedom look amazing!

Maybe some inspo for you :)

Natural and tan colors (lighter shades) gets more attention than the seal browns (darker shades) in my experience. I think they are easy to pair but they are definitely "louder" than the darker browns. I have never had anyone stop me and ask me about my brown cxl or seal brown jackets, but I get plenty of questions and comments on the lighter shades. Burgundy is another color that gets a lot of attention too. It will come down to how chatty I am on that day.

I also consider lighter shades higher grades of leather too, because the flaws would show easier on the lighter shades, so from a getting my bang for the buck point of view, I would always chose the lighter tan over the darker seal.

I think Thedi has one of the nicest tan finish out on the market. His wash and wax process adds that extra oomph to the finish.

The shawl collar was not my thing either. I had two jackets with it and I just didn't wear them much at all. I have found that I prefer pointy collars over the rounded ones. But style is very personal, wear what you like.

Thank you!
You’re absolutely right. It’s all about finding the right combination. Some of these photos really speak to me! The shawl collar definitely takes some getting used to, but maybe it actually enhances the vintage and workwear style. And then there’s that cognac color...

I’m really curious to see how this jacket’s color will evolve over time. Does anyone have an example for me? Will it darken... or become even more orange?

The buffalo needs to be milked. ;)

Best regards,
Roman

Hi

After my first review of the black THEDI jacket made of horse leather, I will now briefly introduce my 2nd jacket from THEDI.

I ordered this stock model from Thursten Bros after a long dialogue with Carrie and it arrived a few days later. As you can see in the following lines, my English is not very good. Nevertheless, Carrie @ Thurston Bros was very patient with me and gave me the best advice. This jacket is made of buffalo leather and the tan color is sold as "cognac".

Before I received the jacket, I was skeptical how the buffalo leather felt. I had no experience with buffalo and had become a bit sensitive due to my stiff Aero horse (FQHH), as the stiff leathers take "half a life" to be worn comfortably (subjective perception).

Then UPS handed me the package, which I immediately opened. I was impressed by the feel of the leather and the beautiful slight vintage look. The “flexibility” of the leather and the workmanship eliminated my last doubts. In the meantime my pulse was rising a bit while I quickly put on my 501 and a T-Shirt and hoped that the jacket would fit me too.:)

Background: I wanted a light colored leather jacket, not to short and comfortable to wear and in my opinion the new THEDI fulfills exactly this purpose. It fits close to the body, but doesn't squeeze and is a shade longer and therefore, for me, more "suitable for everyday use" and less "styled". The jacket is brand new but feels extremely soft. I'm excited to see how it develops over the next few months.

Pictures say more than words, now please see for yourself.

I look forward to your critical comments about the look and fit.
Thedi jackets have such a unique character, and the aging process makes them even better over time. The craftsmanship really stands out, especially in how the leather molds to the wearer. Finding the right jacket can feel like an investment, much like dedicating time to other passions—whether it's collecting quality gear or excelling in academics. If anyone here juggles studies with their hobbies, nursing assignment writer services can be a lifesaver for managing workload. That way, there’s more time to enjoy things like breaking in a new leather jacket properly!
Best regards
Roman
