Retro, sexist ads...

And yes, this is probably supposed to be some kind of light-hearted, tongue in cheek banter about some silly ads. But it's this kind of unresearched *DUH* stuff that perpetuates actual ignorance on a subject.

I didn't even read the commentary because these kinds of writers make my blood boil. I don't know, either, if they are just trying to get a rise or if they really are idiots. As for the actual ads -- I don't find them offensive in the slightest. They are of the time. The modern ads posted were worse (and way ugly lol)

I honestly did not either until the thread got going. We just had a laugh here at home over them. The commentary and comments are as typical as web "news" or reporting seem to get these days, which is to say, abysmal. But the content spoke volumes. I agree with those here that find modern advert's much worse in many ways - especially if you have daughters or granddaughters.

The worst thing about this ad is towards the end when one of the characters says "this is like dating a masseuse good" after she sees a masseur walking by.

Whoever wrote this ad is sadly lacking some language skills. :(

Not even a little bit.

That's not unusual.

The whole ad is just awful. But the ad men are just trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

I always thought this ad had dirty undertones, as well.
A lot of them nowdays have that same theme.
Glad I didn't go into marketing, I couldn't sit in a meeting and think some of these commercials were fit to air.

I ceased paying for cable a couple years ago and don't miss it a single bit. The commercials more than anything else were driving me mad. All the men were stupid, bumbling, useless incompetents who depended entirely on their beautiful smart homemaker wife who looks down on the stupid husband but will make everything alright because she knows best. Pretty much every advert felt like an insult to my intelligence.
