I picked up a new Gretsch G6120SHLTV the other day. I've wanted one for a long time, but I never played one that connected with me.

The G6120SHLTV is a retro-styled guitar, combined with modern touches. It has the iconic styling of the 6120, combined with stripped-down electronics and convenient modern bits - like locking tuners.

It also has a cool colour... Lime Gold!

I'm not a rockabilly guy, however that doesn't mean that I can't enjoy this wonderful instrument. Some of the more traditional or subtle features of the original 6120 would be lost on me.

That being said, this guitar has the tone that I've been after for ever. It is the guitar for me.

The only other guitar that I connected with straight off the rack is my other Gretsch, a G3373 Grand Concert Flat Top Acoustic.

Thanks guys.

The guitar lends itself to those classic retro-rock type licks, however it is so easy to get around on it for practically any other type of music.

Granted, I'm not talking heavy metal or anything, and I shan't be doing any dive bombs with the Bigsby.

It actually stays in tune better than all my other guitars, save the one with the Floyd tremolo.

Don't forget about Chet...

That Gretsch needs to have a little Chet Atkins played on it too, considering how many Gretsch Guitars were sold because of Chester's endorsement of them. Very cool instruments, I owned a 1958 Gretsch Nashville for a while, and have always wished I'd kept it, along with many others that have passed through my hands over the years.
