Here is the concept art for our bubble helmet space suit.

Love the concept. I hope you are keeping a close eye on matching the light source angle for the models and the added celestial objects.

Just out of curiousity are you familiar with the 1970s film Major Mars? I worked on that one and several other low-
budget science fiction movies and tv shows in the 70s that were based on the films from the 30s,40s and 50s.
I even did some 3-D and cinemascope tests of my own back then. I love that Cinemascope barrel distortion
that looks so 1953.

Just for background research, and because the name is similar, have you checked out the SF TV show from the mid-50's "Rocky Jones: Space Ranger"? It might be worth having a look at a few episodes since Rocky's navigator, Vena, looks a lot like your Space Rangers. Her outfit wasn't quite so revealing, but for the 1950's she was all right.
It was a good show for the time, and I and all my pals watched every episode (both for the outer-space adventure and to see Vena)
Good luck on the venture!

I'll look for Major Mars. Is this the project with Bob Burns? I'm not shooting anamorphic, but I am shooting in the scope ratio. I'm trying to get that 1956, early CinemaScope look to the show.

I have seen several of the Rocky Jones episodes that were edited into feature films. Yep Vena was pretty hot for a kids show! We look at that show, Forbidden Planet, World with out End, and several other 50's sci-fi films for costume ideas. We also have a more practical jumpsuit for the rangers, and a space suit that is basically a silver catsuit with a bubble helmet and o2 tanks on the back. See the concept drawing above.

As for the lighting matching celestial objects, I have a gentleman named David Stipes helping me out with that. Look him up on IMDB.

Major Mars was the project with Bob Burns. They have it on You Tube. I worked on the original film shot in 1973.
We utilized the same facility where we had filmed the infamous Flesh Gordon in 1972. In fact the Griffith Observatory
model used for Major Mars headquarters was originally going to be used in one of my scenes of the Great God Porno
carrying off Dale Ardor. We instead used projected footage shot at the real Griffith Observatory.

Last weekend we traveled to a dry lake bed in northern Arizona to shoot a scene for Space Rangers. Here are a few stills from that shoot.

In the last few weeks we shot on location in a "western" bar, and on sets built for the production. Here are a few production photos from the last few weeks.

Well, I've loved everything you've done so far. Now that you've been dropping these tantalizing peeks at the project I believe we are all waiting with baited breath.

Sincerely,
The Wolf
