Restoring overland trunk

I'm not sure if this is the correct section, but it is a travel trunk, so. I have my mom's old overland trunk which really needs some cleaning up and don't know where to start. Does anyone have any idea what i can use to clean/restore it? I don't even know what it is made of so i don't know what kind of cleaner to put on it. No luck searching the internet, so i thought i'd turn here.
