Stearmen,

It seems The Swoose is an A model B-17 from very early in the war.

No, it is definitely a D model. Boeing B-17D-BO Flying Fortress 40-3097! The drawing is wrong. There were no A models, instead they were Y1B-17A which looked considerably different from the C and D models.

I'm thankin' on it but the weather forecast is pretty crappy and it's rainin' like hell right now. I'd hate to be up in a vintage warbird in junky weather but this might be a once in a lifetime chance!!!!

I was at the 'Military Vehicles and Flying Machines' show at Damyons Hall Aerodrome UK the other weekend and the "Sally B" fly by several times - sent shivers down my spine - so beautiful! (She is lovingly cared for at Duxford UK part of the Imperial War Museum).

If anyone gets a chance to ride in a warbird I say GO FOR IT! I have the chance to ride in a 17 and a 25 and they are great to ride in. But then again I also love riding around in my Model A over my modern car.
