Resistol Flatop - Uncommon Hat?

As with tommyK, this one had me chuckling. :) I can see where the "kitten finish" would have been a selling point to folks because, after all, a lot of folks have petted a kitten at some point in their life and can relate to it. I'm quite sure there are a lot less people who can truthfully state they've petted a beaver. :eeek:
When I bought my Resistol KF, I pointed out the little kitten sketched in gold on the sweatband to Miss Linda. She is one of the most devout animal lovers on earth. Before she could ask, I carefully said, "No actual kittens were harmed in the making of this hat."

@Mystic do you have any after pictures of the hat? Also, I'm interested in seeing the a closeup of the edge. It looks to me like it has a Cavanagh edge. Very nice hat.

The auction photos are the only ones I have. This hat gets very very little head time. I'm not a fan of back bows even though I have 2 back bow hats. I bought this hat out of curiosity about the Flat Top.
Has a nice felt. Not a Cavanagh edge but an underwelt.

Interesting posts, gentlemen! I too found a similar hat on eBay. However, there are no markings anywhere on this hat! I was told it was a 7 1/2. But upon arrival it turned out to be a 7 3/8 at best. As you'll note, there's liner and nothing listed under the leather. I saw the hat that rated this thread on eBay and thought it may be its cousin...But also...I have no idea. The brim is 2 1/8 and the felt is in great shape! I kinda like this style but it doesn't fit my noggin...Here now, some pics...

Well, Retro, if my math is correct, and a 7-1/2 is slightly too big, then (even without a calculator) a 7-3/4 is even bigger too big, right? You must be thinking 7-3/8, which is the size of the Milan flat top I posted above. Do you like that lid?

My mistake! I did mean 7-3/8.

I do like the hat, but I was thinking more of a felt hat. Thanks anyway. :)

@NewJack that does appear to be a cousin of the Resistol Flatop. I really like the ribbon treatment on your hat. It adds a little extra pizazz to an already cool hat. It's a shame it doesn't fit you. Like you, I'm a 7-1/2 so we're likely bidding against each other for stuff on eBay.

As promised a few days ago, here are some better pictures of my Flatop. If you look at one of the pictures earlier in the thread, there was a bump under the ribbon on the front of the hat. It turns out the bump was a feather that was placed under the ribbon. I'm not sure why it would have been there, but I removed it and the bump is now gone. :)

One thing I will once more reiterate is that the finish on this hat is pretty amazing. The more I handle this hat and wear it, the more I like it and, needless to say, it has a style all its own. Enjoy the new pics...

I'm not sure. I have a 7 1/2, but it seems slightly too big. I never tried any other sizes besides XL. Size L is too small for me, but size XL is a bit too big. I might be a 7 3/4.

Next time your trying on hats ,print this out, take it with you (or just measure your head ) and you will be sure to get the right size hat .
