I'd love to see the weight difference between Deluxe and Standard felts, on exactly identical hats - same size and model. Would get at the heart of what "dense" means. I think...well, we'll wait for your report and then speculate.

hey guys quick question: would anyone say that heritage fawn may be considered kind of green?
in some photos it looks gray, in others tan, and some like a light khaki green

I would say 'no'...but my girlfriend says 'yes'.

Did that help?

I see green too.

:eek:fftopic: I'm a Scorpio and someone told me once that Scorpio's can pull green from the spectrum better than other signs [huh].

What do you see?

Green, blue, and indigo are tough for a lot of folks [huh].

When out in the sun I do see a little green in the Heritage Fawn.

I'd call the Heritage Fawn something of a khaki; definitely a browny, earht tone , but there's just a hint of green in there that you'd only really spot with it against the Tawny Fawn, which is very definitely a tan. FWIW, if I was being really anal, I think the HF would pair better with green, while the TF would have the edge with something like USAAF officer's pinks.

Thanks to you enablers, I've now added the TF to my 'wants' list.... Already have the Carbon std and the brown in Deluxe... both MK IIIs, but if I had a full st of colours that would do me for all the difference there is between the two versions. I'm very glad that Hats Direct offer each of the colours in only one variant (Std or Deluxe), as that avoids a very difficult decision for me indeed!

Damn, I didn't realise there were colour differences between the standard and heritage. I love the heritage fawn colour, my Stockman is that colour, now how do I justify another hat...

If memory seves, the MkIII came in Carbon, Black and mid Brown in the Std, and Black and Dark Brown in the Deluxe.... not sure about the tans. They seem to have rationalised the range somewhat this time round, which makes sense.
