Hmmm, not sure that's really the case. Before when they had set up the RRL line in major department stores I would have agreed...they are just bringing some pieces into the local RL store so there is some access in the Detroit market.

Wow. The RRL pictures are cool. The clearly went for the style of the sydney mugshots from the 1920s (as seen in the books: "City of shadows" and "Crooks like us") and the Disfarmer pictures. Both are great!

Chaps, apologies for a lady asking questions in a gentlemen's thread, but my man would like to get himself a pair - several pairs - of classic, hard-wearing trousers. The emphasis is on the hard-wearing - I grow tired of patching up chinos, and he's never owned a pair of jeans he liked.

Does anyone have any recommendations for trousers that are intended for serious hard labour - i.e. chasing a toddler around all day?

Hi

Khaki uniform pants from At The Front are the least expensive good khaki's I've owned. They are much more substantial than either Eddie Bauer, Cabelas (my usual brand), and Dockers. Cabelas and less expensive by half, but are thinner. I used to wear Dockers back in the 1990's but I can order my correct length from Cabelas so that's what I usually wear. I have two pair of the At The Front khakis and will be buying more. FYI they are button fly, which may make a difference to the wearer.

I would guess that there is a more expensive brand that might be better, but I have no experience with that. If you order the Cabelas pants on sale, ($20 or so), you don't feel so bad about tossing them after 2-3 years.

Target has a new chinstrap chambray workshirt. It's a different style from the one from a couple of years ago.
It looks more like something from The Gap.

Was in target last week and checked on the chinstrap shirt they now have them in plaid colors.

Here are a couple of pic's

This shirt is currently on clearance at the Lucky website. If you search online for promo codes, there is also a 10% discount out there. It brings the total to a whopping $17.99 (excluding tax & s/h). I have 4-5 Lucky Brand workshirts and they are really nice especially if you're not paying full price which is usually around $70. Check it out...

Thanks for the tip. I purchased a couple of these shirts and like them very much. I see that they are still apparently available in all sizes except small.

No problem. I bought one also! Personally, I think it's a great shirt at twice that price. I own several of the Lucky Brand work wear shirts and like them alot although I always wait until there is a sale because $70 is a little steep IMO.

This stuff is great. But on a tangent I can't help but be a little worried with RRL making retro so mainstream. Before it was just odd or kooky... But now once the mainstream forget retro we're just out of style...

I understand what you mean, but RRL has been doing this exact thing since 1993! They launched big then went underground. Considering the high pricepoint, I don't think their new web presence will take the world by storm.
