The high profit.... hm if they got that fabric produced just for their own collection it got pretty expensive for them too. That and the limited stock that is produced from it...and first world wages to the tailors or seamstresses.

Edit: I am not saying that it has to be more than 1000 dollars but I would say it is impossible to produce quality like this for say 100$ (production costs alone)
On the other hand in the fashion industry it is perfectly normal to get a 10$ jacket from a third world country and sell it for 100$.

And could you imagine a cap made out of that fabric? :)

In the autumn Japanese sellers offers this jacket for around 800 $ . Japanese workwear is expensive. but you can get anything better. It's not just clothing, it's a religion. I love every piece in my wardrobe.
my budget is limited, I can buy me 2-4 pieces per year. But I do not need 20 bad tailored cheap work shirts in my wardrobe. the pieces are limited. Japanese Work wear is well tailored. I often get compliments for my look.
It looks specifically, but not out of fashion. I like the Trend to earlier Workwear, its a bit more stylish than than the boxy 1940 Overalls.

Agreed. I'm done with the Old Navy/Target/H&M stuff and am trying to make very few, but more thoughtful choices to get exactly what I want.
Absent something extraordinary, I have no further interest in chin straps, and the Beach cloth is well past the point of saturation. Target should be selling a Beach cloth, chin strapped shirt by April if this continues.

i agree with this point of view. i'd rather give my money to a person (or small company) who lives and breathes the era / products i'm interested in than to a large company who copies the end product for less.

Save the money you spend on five Target/H&M/Topman shirts and buy one really amazing one from someone like Takashi Tateno (sole proprietor of Workers) who has personally designed and overseen the production of every garment:

I have a co worker who just moved here from Tokyo and one of the things that he marvel's at is the pricing difference. What is cheap in Japan is expensive here. Example his wife just came back from visit with daugther in Tokyo and picked up a computer like mine for 650 dollars US where here in the US same computer was 2000 dollars. But a Large(small US size) Pizza Hut Pizza was 35 dollars here 14 dollars. On her next trip will have her check out prices of stuff.:)

-He makes some nice garments but the sizing is bizarre (despite repeated requests to bring them in line with some degree of normalcy, like a true XL that actually meaures more than 22" across the chest). Buyer beware.

They have these jackets for sale at the Winners near my place here in Toronto. I tried on the medium and it fit pretty nicely.

I saw the jacket the other day and it looks great. It looks like something LVC would make and for only $70CDN.
