Political discussions are BANNED from this point forward until further notice.

Does this include discussion about any companies that sell vintage clothing, etc. that won't sell to certain individuals because of their background, ethnic origin or tastes? That in itself could be considered political.

I am course not a bartender, but imagine that the topic you mentioned doesn't fall within the definition of "politics." The ban followed threads about things like global warming, gun control, etc. that got out of hand.

I hope the ban does not cover this because i'd like to hear about it! There are companies that refuse to sell to people? How are they still in business?

Not vintage inspired

Oh, like I once got my nails done, had my son at my feet, and was half asleep and then arguing started in the front.

The nail salon refused to do the nails of a transvestite.

A good friend of mine is a lesbian (and it's obvious). We've been refused service in Denny's, refused entry into a club (because I'm not) and been refused service at a J.C Penneys.

Ah, yes. I have been refused service in a deli in New York City before 9-11 when they saw my best friend, who was my boyfriend at the time. He has very long hair. I was dressed mod vintage but they changed their minds when he appeared.
That is odd. Long hair in NYC is rather tame.

Thats just wrong. I haven't seen any of that happening here when I am out and about. Of course I am hardly out and about..lol One of the places I get my nails done, they have a regular transvestite that comes in and a store that I regularly frequent has a crossdresser as a cashier. (I'm glad that I'm not alone at being half asleep at the salon)

And imagine if you had been a Yankee and black. :(

.

Had that been the case, I'd have a case against them. I had actually contacted an attorney because the experience was so outrageous and humiliating. That's when I learned that it's perfectly legal to discriminate against non-protected groups, generally speaking.

The whole yankee thing is better in more Urban areas (unless you walk into MY house, where my husband IS a Yankee.)

I make fun of it, but I thought they quit doing that years ago to people. My favorite father-in-law (which happens NOT to be my current one) used to tell me all kinds of things that happened to him 30 years ago.

I have to ask, WHERE were you?

(On a side note, I was refused service in a Shari's because I was an NRA member from Texas back when I was in the NW. I've never been sure if it was my prolific use of the word "y'all" or the fact that my purse got dumped.)
