Bettafett, if all that you've said is an honest and complete account of events - and I take you at your word - then at this point, as I see it, you don't owe these cowboys and their reputation any more gentlemanly conduct. What's more, I'd say that frankly such considerations are misplaced as evidently this road isn't helping to bring you and your cash any closer. You have tried to sort this out privately and respectfully, have waited longer than anyone should ever be expected to, and the thanks you have received for your patience and restraint is what exactly? With that response this guy has essentially spat in your eyes, apparently more than once. And now you have the fun of a PP dispute to look forward to. For me, in circumstances like these I'd say the ship of cordiality has sailed and that now is the time to think about returning the favour i.e. the maximum amount of inconvenience you can inflict. If it was me, and I'm just saying, I'd bear in mind that this is the information age, that the WWW is a big place, and that there are a lots and lots of forums out there. If you ask me, naming him should be just the first step, with several more to follow

Guys, thanks again for all the input. Really appreciate it.
Well, I have lodged a complaint with Paypal and the Better Business Bureau. I have also sent a few emails to the crew in question... again.
I have sent Paypal statements and all sorts of correspondence and transaction details. An expensive oversees phone call will follow next week.
Man, I wasted hours on this yesterday and today!
I would still prefer not to name names, I would like this 'vendor' a chance to come clean and would prefer getting my $ back.
I do understand the quandary of warning other potential buyers of this issue, hey, perhaps this was an exception.... Let s see it play out from here. But I won't pander for much longer, this is bad bad business.

Good to hear that you've got the ball rolling. It might be a slow process but I'd wager that you'll eventually get your money back one way or the other.

But all said and done, I'd say that now you've given the vendor ample opportunity to do the right thing and to stop further speculation, I'd name who you have been dealing with. You've already got people speculating after saying a vendor in the US, and for fear of tarnishing the reputation of innocent sellers you might be right to fess up and name names.

There's nothing to stop the vendor from signing up here and giving their 2c worth, although by the sounds of it, they've long since left the realms of reasonable business practice.

There are a lot of people here who could potentially get burnt so a "caveat emptor" about a certain vendor is very useful information.

^ The bartender has asked that he wait a bit longer to do this.

We always encourage members with disputes with merchants to address their concerns privately, through all possible channels. Mistakes happen, no one is perfect, and every business will foul up now and then. I would make an attempt to speak via phone, and send a letter with documentation outlining what you know to date. Give a clear date by which you expect to have your refund in hand, after which you will notify the appropriate consumer action groups and take action with Paypal, and that you will take all measures you feel are appropriate to prevent such a series of unfortunate events from unfolding on other customers, including informing other collectors via web forum and or social media.

THEN you can name names here.

I'm glad to hear that you got the ball rolling, and I hope things reach a satisfactory conclusion soon.

Well guys, this issue has been resolved.
I am not 100% sure what the problem actually was, not too interested. I think it had something to do with refunding the incorrect account... possibly. Seems a refund was made a while back, but didn't reflect in my account and was returned as unclaimed.
Must be something to do with Mercury going retrograde ;)) Anywayyyy.... Its all good.
Thank you for your comments and support.
