Reenacting in Maryland

Hi all, so I have wanted to do WW2 reenacting since I was about 13 but it's only recently that I have started to look for information on it. I would like to reenact as a WAVE or my second option would be a WAC. I also want to reenact as an Officer, so that would probably be a nurse right? Anyway does anyone know anything about reenacting around these parts, and what I can do to get involved in it. I am new to the reenacting thing so any advise is welcome.

What part of Maryland are you from? I might be able to put you in touch with people who are fairly local to you, depending on your location.

Okay, here are a few ideas. There is a chapter of the APS (Airmen's Preservation Society) in the National Capital area. Some of the members there might be able to help. One is also a fellow Lounger (MPicciotto). Maybe he'll chime in. He and I are also members of a Homefront Living History group, "Kilroy's Homefront Commandos" if you might want to consider a Homefront role at some point in time. We do a number of Homefront impressions, but a number of our members specialize in Civilian Defense. A Homefront WAC or WAVE recruiting booth certainly wouldn't be outside of our territory, so to speak. We also work closely with the reenactors of the 261 Coastal Artillery at Fort Miles at Cape Henlopen, Delaware.
I have a good friend who does a WAC Nurse impression, and is developing her WAVE impression. Private Message me if you'd like so I can give you contact information.

Well almost. I live across the bridge on the "Right" side of the bay. I'm both a member of the group Chris is in that reenacts the Homefront. And also of the Airmen's Preservation Society (http://www.capitalwingaps.org/) with members from Southern Maryland, Northern Virginia, West Virginia and the nearest to you would be Mike & Cindy Hall. In Pasadena just south of you.

It's come to my attention that you are a teacher. Two of our members of APS are teachers. Mike Hall right there in Pasadena is one of them.

Well I'm not a teacher yet, I'm just a student teacher, but I will be a real teacher come next year. But I think it's a great hobby for teachers because most of it takes place in the summer time

When you say WW2 Reenacting? There are two styles

Living History Events - Public events with period encampment, which are primarily focused on Q&A with the public

WW2 Reenacting - Private "senario battles" in which reenactors simulate a battle engagment. These involved the use of real armor vehicles, and rifles shooting movie blanks.
